Paying for seats on a Virgin flight.
I’m just after anyone’s experience regarding Virgins policy on seating people together.. We have booking for the 3 of us and cannot decide whether to pay for seats together or chance what Virgin allocate at check in.
We haven’t flown Virgin as they have always been more expensive so have no personal experience. So we would like your thoughts on whether we should chance what we get allocated or pay to be together? Does anyone know what Virgin do. Thanks |

Have you got seats under Classic? If so, you dont pay extra to book your seats and can book at 331 days out. If you want to book in the bubble its extra, as is Delight and Premium.

Its £30per seat to book up to 24 hours before checkin, maybe you could look at your booking and see what seats are available currently.

Can’t speak for Virgin specifically but I’ve never paid for allocated seats on a regular airline and we’ve always been sat together (although I will reserve as soon as the ‘free’ window opens)
These days I have frequent flyer status with BA so can reserve for free from when I book and see what seats are free at any point. FWIW if I look at, say, a transatlantic flight 48 hours before the free window opens then normally the first 3-4 rows of Economy are all taken and then every row after that is totally empty. I can’t see why it would be any different on Virgin. Your call though! |

I have been on the Dibb quite a while and have read many many stories regarding seats and whether or not to pay etc.
I think basically, if you don't have a small child and sitting together is important to you then book. We always book as compared to the price of the whole trip it's a small price to pay to know we are sitting together which is important to us. (Although even paying you can still be split up under certain circumstances.

We haven't always been seated together when we haven't paid for seats on virgin and BA. They only have to seat a child with one travelling adult.
Anyone can look up seat availability on BA regardless of status, but we haven't travelled with virgin for years so not sure if it's the same with them. Me and my wife were seperated in BA club last December coming back from Tampa, but we didn't complain because that's the chance we took, and at around £100 each, for both flights we weren't prepared to waste £400. As mentioned this subject comes up a lot, and if you don't pay to all be seated together, then you can't complain if you are seperated. |

We traveled with virgin 2 years ago, didn't pay for seats and were seated together.
With the fact that they give people the option of choosing seats for free if your not on the lowest fare, I would expect a lot more of the cabin to be reserved in advance, in my opinion this will lead to a lot more single seats being left empty as people pick two seats together. As mickey house has said, sometimes you win sometimes you don't, but if you don't pay and get separated then you can't really complain. |
