GoPro shorty

So I’m going to get a GoPro 8 for our trip this year, but I know about the recent changes in the whole selfie stick thing.
So I’m wondering if a GoPro shorty will be allowed as it’s really a mini tripod/handle...

I’ve just seen someone else reply to another thread that states they won’t allow it if they spot it’s a shorty. In our (my OH, not me, I’m a stickler for the rules and can’t stand selfie sticks anyway) experience, last August at Smuggler’s Run, the CM just said to put it back down. There didn’t seem to be an issue with the fact that it [I]could[I] extend. They may well have clamped down on this since, of course. So it’s probably not worth the risk!

They are not recent changes, it has been like this for quite some time. Actual rules say no hand held extension poles or selfie sticks.
If security spot it extends, they will not let it in. Option then is return to car or hotel or bin it.
Occasionally they will miss one and it gets in.

There are a lot of vlogs where people seem to be using a stick for cameras, they look like they are just hand size for filming
