My wife is kicking me out the house (true)

My wife is now working from home 5 days a week due to the current situation, and with my retirement as good as here, she said I am already driving her mad with my singing and constant talking while she's trying to work.

So on Sunday I have to move my PS4 and other gadgets to my man cave at the bottom of the garden, and only come in the house for food and hot drinks.

I'm picking my son and his girlfriend up from uni at the weekend, and my son has said he plans to be wearing his noise cancelling headphones indoors to drown out my noise as he has lots of studying to do.

I'm beginning to feel that my lone isolation has begun sooner than expected

To give a positive spin, they say the divorce rate will rise after social isolation and social distancing so by moving to man cave you are helping no to add to this statistic.

I think your wife is a wise woman

Seriously though I had quite a few conversations yesterday with customers commenting on the trials of trying to home work with the family in situ .
My boss is threatening to move into the shed to work with all his tribe at home , he’s so used to having the house to himself he says he feels a bit resentful they are “in his territory” lol

I think a lot of people are going to feel this way (I’m used to it, my home office is in the extension and everyone is banned from it when I’m working unless they bring me coffee)

Good points MH, we all need to be aware of how those we live with are feeling. I think I am lucky we can get away from each other and are used to doing that. We have a garden for fresh air and to do practical work in.

We all need to give each other space.

Although my post is light hearted (but true), I am lucky that I have a large man cave with all the luxuries I need in it, but there are many people that have limited space in their home to have some personal space, so believe me I am very grateful. Some people don't even have a garden for them to sit or in the kids to play in.

Three Cheers for the man cave! Mine is the Conservatory - where I can get lost in Nettflix or You Tube.

Best bit of advice is to train family that when you are “at work” you as as unavailable as you would be if you were in the office . Takes a bit of adjusting but saves a lot of stress
(Of course I over did it and my son once waited to tell me a tree in the front garden was on fire and flames were licking at the house until I was off a call ! ) <true story>

I think they are being a bit selfish Mickey, after all you have always been a kind and generous soul to your family.
