Disney moves out of Narnia

inline imageDisney have decided not to co-finance the next installment of the Chronicles of Narnia films. A Disney spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday that the Burbank studio decided not to exercise its option to co-finance the third movie in the franchise based on C.S. Lewis' classic children's books because of "budgetary considerations."

As in the case of many films, "Prince Caspian" did not earn its money back from ticket sales. But Disney and Walden hope it will become profitable as the result of DVD sales.

On Wednesday morning, the Hollywood Reporter website was first to report that Disney was pulling out of "Dawn Treader."

Oh that's a shame, I really enjoyed both films. I wonder if the rest of the books will still be made into films now, or whether that's it!

Maybe that explains why the Narnia attractions at WDW have been very 'low budget'.

Sucha shame. I was very disappointed by the Disney attraction and kept wondering the attraction was going to start not realising that we were already watching it.

We saw the first 'attraction' last year and thought we were watching the pre show - it was very disappointing. Hopefully they will put something good in its place.

I agree on the HS attraction, after qing last week for over an hour we were really dissapointed at this 'pre show' type attraction. If you dont have a military plan at H S you are destined to long Q's and the likes of Narnia.

What a shame.

The family really enjoyed the Narnia films.

Hope that this means that Disney will not dump them out of the themeparks.

With the greatest respect to Disney I think they were the wrong people to be making these films anyway. I am hoping that someone else comes in to do a better job as the first two were only average for me!
