Epcot's Lights of Winter Retired.

inline image
It has been rumoured for a while that Epcot's Lights of Winter will not be appearing this year.
This week it has been confirmed to Cast Members that the spectacle will not be shown this year, or any other year - the lights are retiring.

A spokesperson tells us:

"The Lights of Winter at Epcot has been enjoyed for years. But tech to operate the lights is obsolete, prompting us to retire the lights "

Those that have seen the lights will be sad to hear this, and those that were hoping to see them will be severely disappointed.
The good news is that there are no plans to get rid of the Osbourne Family Spectacle of the Lights over at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Oh no - I was really looking forward to seeing them - never have before.

Just another sign of the times I guess.

Maybe worth merging the thread I started in the theme park forum into this one!

Shame. They were great for holiday warmth. Literally...I was there in December a few years ago and they were a warm spot on a chilly night.

Oh no, we'll miss them! We're going for the first time next December and Epcot is the park I most want to see - and I'm a sucker for sparkly lights.

Still, as long as the Osbourne Lights stay up...

We're going for Christmas next year and really wanted to see this. I hope they don't make any more cuts.

That's a real shame...it won't be the same leaving the park after Illuminations and not going through the arch of lights... Disney seem to be cutting back on a few things...is the leccy bill getting too high?
