Illuminations Dessert Party

Hi there - has anyone done this and could recommend it?

I'm contemplating booking for us and our friends while we are on honeymoon as part of our wedding present to them...

Either this or a fairly heftily loaded gift basket to be delivered to their room?

What about an illuminations cruise - you can see if anyone else wants a share on the Dibb so you are not paying for the whole boat. We did the fireworks cruise last summer and can say it was magical. I have not had the dessert party for Epcot but have read some not favourable reviews on here and you really can see the fireworks from a lot of places so not really need for a good view and the desserts are not great (in my opinion).

This is what I posted in another thread:

We would not do EPCOT's Illuminations Sparkling Dessert party again.

We went to it in April 2015. The view of the fireworks was really good, and the dessert party was not crowded at all. There are tables dotted around which you stand at. They are quite high, are covered with a table cloth and had a little glo cube thing in the centre. There are no chairs as it's situated on a slope.

The desserts were nothing to write home about. Cookies, churros, apple cobbler, small cupcakes, baklava, crispie treats, ice cream plus some others. They all looked really nice, but tasted quite bland.

We experienced some really unruly children there, the cast members were great at sorting them out though. The parents were far more interested in the drinks on offer, rather than supervising their children.

It is located in showcase plaza, when asking cast members for directions we were met with puzzled looks, and then sent to the wrong place twice.

we did this last year and we are not doing it this year. No seats which I found annoying - yes there were tall tables to lean on but I would prefer to sit down and eat. Also the choice of desserts was fairly limited in comparison to Wishes and Star Wars dessert parties. Because there were only a few food stations the queues were horrific and I had to stand in line for 15 minutes just to get a (n alcoholic!) drink. The viewing area was very good to watch the show but in honesty you could just plot up behind the rope and sit on the wall and wait and have the same view. In fact some people who were waiting behind the roped off area who weren't on the dessert party all climbed over the rope and pushed to the front once the show started and nobody stopped them. So it didn't feel like good value for money or especially magical. The Wishes Dessert Party on the other hand had the wow factor for us with good seating and a much wider choice of tasty puds.

We did the MK one and had a front row table so nobody could stand in front of us. However, how many sugary puds can you eat in one go? There were cheese and biscuits too but the cheese was pretty average. Feel it has got over-priced so wouldn't do it again.
