Only Animal Kingdom - are we kidding ourselves?
Hi
Having not been Disney for several years, recent trips have all been Universal centric, we (7 of us) were thinking of doing 1 day in Animal Kingdom this summer. Buying tickets on the day - we are there in August - are we kidding ourselves in thinking we could get the most from the park in one day, would we spend most of the time in queues? Thanks in advance.

Not sure what the answer is but we are doing a 1 day only for Epcot. We are maximising on that day by staying onsite, checking in early around 7am and also going on a EMH evening. Having a rest in the afternoon at hotel if needed. Hoping to get fast passes done and will just be a case of what we get done we do, what we don't, well we don't. Already done online chec in and customised magic bands. Only a day but so excited to do it. Use the plans and fast pass and I'm sure you will have a great day

If you are not considering staying one night I would reccomend buying your ticket before at least then you can book fastpasses 30 days before. Undercover tourist sell one day tickets.

I'd also recommend buying before so you can book fastpasses. We had a day at hs last Feb and bought tickets direct from disney. We didn't even need to collect the tickets from guest services as we already had magicbands.

We had 1 day at AK in august, and had a great day. I deffinately think you can have a good day there and do most things, but we did buy our tickets in advance and book 3 fastpasses, and then booked more in park as we used them up, to help us.
we did exp Everest twice, flight of passage at rope drop and end of day with a q of around 1 1/2 hrs, primeval whirl, dinosaur, safari (after fop rope drop), lion king show, walk around animal areas, the water ride, mickey and Minnie meet - probably some more but cant remember. we arrived just over an hour before opening as the flight of passage q's were still crazy then, and that worked well - we were off the ride less than 1/2 hr after park opening. we probably left the park approx. 5pm. My favourite Disney park. |

Also don’t plan to arrive on early magic hour if staying offsite.

As others have advised, buy the tickets in advance. Not just for FPs, but so you can attempt to rope drop FOP as you more than likely won't get a FP for this in advance. Much better to already be in the Pandora queue at park open than still in the ticket queue!
But otherwise I don't see a problem with only going for a day. Just get there early to get as much done as possible before the queues build too much, and book FPs in the afternoon for the rest. |

AK is easy to do in 1 day, now they have extended the times as long as you get your 3 FPs. You may struggle to get Pandora FPs and may have to run at rope drop to do FOP if you want to.

Thanks All - if we decide to go for it we will definitely purchase the tickets before we go to try and get fast passes (where we can!).
