Fast pass tiers
I will be booking fast passes on Saturday. If there is no availability for FOP when I first look, should I book a different tier 1 attraction or leave it spare so that when I look again and FOP is available it will show up on the list of availability?

Book another one, you can always switch it if FOP turns up.

However when you go back into the look for a FOP fastpass in the future - make sure you "modify" your current tier 1 FP.
Otherwise it will never show up as available (even if there is one free) as you already have a tier 1 & thus you canot have another. Just as you said.
