United airlines and connecting flights
We are travelling from Manchester to Quebec via Newark. Does anyone know if we have to go through immigration in Newark and what happens to checked in bags. We have tried to search this question but can't find the answer.

As your 1st point of entry into the USA is Newark then as you are on US soil, you must go through the immigration area on landing. Once you have cleared from there, you can then pick up your checked luggage from a carousel and exit that area (via a customs officer). Once you are through that area, you follow the connecting flight route, hand over your luggage to them and make your way to the terminal area for your flight - it maybe another terminal in the airport - so check departure boards.
No matter which terminal your connecting flight is leaving from (including the one you arrive in - usually C or B) you will need to go through security again. |

Thank you that is what we thought. Slightly panicking about time but I suppose if we miss our connecting flight we will just have to hope we don't have too long to wait for another one
