Welsh Dibbers - taxi recommendations?

We are in south Wales and have to organise a trip back from Gatwick in August on a Sunday morning (kind friend taking us on outbound). We are looking at options but would anyone be able to recommend a firm in South Wales (Cardiff, Caerphilly) ? Many thanks.

Tom Morrow lives in that area and may be able to help.

I queried a while ago about having a taxi from Gatwick to Caerphilly and prices were eye watering. Have you thought of a bus or train ?

OP. I think the above post nail it - going to be expensive!

I don't know of anybody sorry but all the cab companies will provide the service and giving them a ring will be a starter for ten.
A friend of mine used to do it when he retired and was charging about £60 but that was maybe 12 or 15 years ago.
He gave up when he got DVT so I can't even ask him.

If it was me I would be looking at the train option but of course that will include changes and then a cab from the S.Wales station.

Gatwick Airport Taxi Services has an online calculator and for my address are quoting £195. I hasten to add I don't know them and just did a Google search

I used aclassdrivers in 2015, Cardiff to Heathrow, £400 return. That was for the minibus type transport which was quite new.

I would highly recommend them, back then, not sure how their doing now. Maybe trip adviser them.

When we looked cheapest was £450. We got national express back to Cardiff and taxi back to Pontyclun. We used my green cabs he has a large car which is big enough for a wheelchair in the back. There was 4 of us and 4 large cases 4 cabin bags, plenty of room and cost £25. They are excellent and would recommend.

Thanks everyone, we are lucky that a friend will drive us to Gatwick, and we only need a return journey. Taxi prices are circa 200 or so, we may find a train bargain though. Seems the Fly away tickets are not around any more.

Following as we have flights out of Heathrow and back into Gatwick this December. We live in Porthcawl and considered taking the train South Wales to Heathrow then car transport back to South Wales - DH is always driving back fuelled by energy drinks so it would be a change for him to be chauffeured. A friend of ours has recommended Prestige Travel, they are based in Bridgend I think, she said they have used them and had excellent service.

We’ve used Prestige twice to Heathrow - not cheap but no more expensive than others but excellent service both times.
