Mobile Avis partner as additional driver

Hi

I have booked direct with Avis for our upcoming trip.

As I understand it your spouse/ domestic partner are also covered for free.

Do I have to declare this when I pick up the vehicle? Does my partner need to be present and show her license?

I've also registered with Avis Preferred, so intend to go direct to the garage.

Many thanks

My understanding is spouses are automatically covered and don’t need to show license or anything

just read my booking conformation on this

"British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus members receive 1 free additional driver per rental. Executive Club/Iberia Plus card number must be
added at time of booking and card shown at the depot. Additional driver details do not need to be entered as part of your booking. Additional driver does
not have to be an Executive Club or Iberia Plus member and the driver details are advised directly to Avis at the depot where they must present a full
driving licence and credit card in their name."

Rental Policies, Terms and Conditions
Additional Driver

Additional driver fees will not be reflected in your estimated total when you book your reservation in advance. They will be calculated at the rental counter when the vehicle is picked up.

The following individuals, if 25 years of age or older and in possession of a valid driver's license, may drive the car with the renter's prior permission and are exempt from Additional Driver fees:

Renter's employer (while on company business);
Renter's fellow employee (while on company business
Renter's spouse or life partner.
Disabled renters who have completed the non-licensed renter form
A maximum of 2 additional drivers can complete an additional driver form* for a rental. To save time, you can print out this form, complete and bring it with you to the counter. Additional drivers who can drive the vehicle with the renter's permission (see Exceptions above) are not included in this requirement.
My understanding is that you don't need to declare it, you can if you want and they may ask you to fill out a form if you do.

That's only for additional drivers, this is an Avis related term for US & Canada related hires where you don't need to have the additional driver named if they are your spouse or life partner.

Avis must make a fair bit of cash out of this from renters that don't know about it.

I’m always down as the main driver and have never been asked to show DHs driving licence when collecting from Avis.
