ID for alcohol at Disney

Our boys are 23 and 21 and this will be our first visit where we can all get an alcoholic drink.

I’m sure I’ve read on here that Disney require 2 forms of ID so driving licences are easy but can anyone tell me is a photo of their passport on their phones ok as they don’t really want to be carrying photocopies and I don’t want to carting around their actual passports.

Yes, we were there recently and there were posters on the tills advising of this.

We were only asked once but physical driving license coupled with photo of passport was sufficient.

This is the WDW policy albeit different customers experience different checks

I have highlighted bits in bold for you.

Q.

What kind of identification do I need to supply if I wish to enjoy an alcoholic beverage during my visit?
A.

Alcoholic beverages can be purchased at Walt Disney World Resort by all Guests 21 years of age or older.

Any Guest who wishes to purchase an alcoholic beverage at Walt Disney World Resort must present one of the following valid forms of identification:

U.S. state driver’s license (includes U.S. territories*)
U.S. state ID (includes U.S. territories*)
U.S. military ID
Original passport
Copy of passport (either on paper or captured on a mobile device), along with a government-issued photo ID** that can verify the person and birth date shown on the copy
NEXUS card issued by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (Canadian Guests only)

All Guests visiting from outside of the United States are required to present both a valid passport as well as another form of government-issued photo ID from their country of origin.

So they would present their driving licences and their phone showing the photo of their Passports.

My Son did that for years.

Fun story. Got to Epcot food and wine festival and forgot passport. Damnit! Uber back to the hotel at iDrive, same Uber straight back to Disney passport in hand (which I hate as passports are so damn precious things!).

Went to same drinks counter, no ID requested. Went to several more drinks counters throughout the Food and Wine festival, no ID requested. All that trip wasted (and going through security twice) and no one even asked again. Note I was 32, so not like I was 50. I can smile about it now, on the day it was very frustrating!

My kids at the same age had passport photos on their phones and they were fine with that.
