I thought the food was really good generally, but the tips did add up to quite a lot.
I’m not sure I fully took this into account when upgrading QSDP to DDP.
California Grill brunch was disappointing.
Yak and Yeti, excellent but long wait.
Homecoming, not for me, too heavy and fatty.
Sci-fi diner, excellent.
Tiffins, excellent.
Boma dinner, reasonable.
Desserts were universally disappointing.
Service was good to very good, but very tip centric which I find annoying as a Brit. I’m going to tip, you don’t need to go on about it!
We used every single credit and they were weighted well, just about right.
I would do it again, but I’m not totally enamoured.

I’m so you were disappointed and it does sound like you were unlucky on more than one occasion.
We have done the ddp twice, 8 nights both times. Not sure I could do two weeks.
I like it for the character meals as these are expensive and my kids (and me!) enjoy them.
Definitely noticed a decline in quality between 2016 and 2018.
However if it is released next year we will hopefully book for the reason above.
I definitely won’t be making loads of adr’s and tying myself down.
We will probably only book a few of the popular or pre park opening ones. And also always book 30 before the time you actually want. You are then seated at the time you want.
We eat early for dinner 5pm ish (I can’t eat late) and I do think, although it shouldn’t, eating at “peak time” results in worse service and food.

It used to be forbidden I think for them to ask for tips.

I have found a few really grumpy servers in WDW, with a bossy and entitled attitude. I found this on a single trip in Narcoosees, Hollywood and Vine, and The Plaza. Very strange.

This has got me thinking - I can't recollect ever having cod in Disney. However I could be wrong.

Their halibut was excellent though. Long gone now.

Bonefish Grill serves Atlantic Cod. 3 course meal on a Tuesday for under $20 so it must still be available

And this all got me thinking that I never really wondered what was on my plate ...

last disney restaurant we did was Raglan Road (excellent spot I must admit) and I had fish&chips but never even gave a thought as to what was underneath the batter (it was tasty though)

we only did this one (and chef mickey's for the kid ... which btw was apalling ... so bad they took 30% off our check when I complained to a manager)

we were not on the DDP and glad we were not on the DDP , lol. Because if Raglan Road was absolutely fabulous, Chef Mickey was a disaster, and we had friends there at the same time, who could not say enough how disapointed they were with disney restaurants ... I don't think we could have taken 14 days of Disney Restaurants ... even if free ... (we've done in the past, when it was actually good ... no, delete that ... when it was "better than it is now" but all we read and all we experienced OOP the last couple or three years, really put us off.

well, back on my fish ... I have absolutely no idea what kind of fish I had ...

you got me thinking ... and about chicken too ...

Like you, we had inconsistent experiences across the board (signatures to counter service) and the late seating is incredibly frustrating when it’s eating in to park time and you have hungry/tired kids.

Would we do it again? Definitely but on the whole, it sounds like we had much better experiences than you had and we found some lovely little gems!
I am doing DxDDP next time so glad to hear a (mostly) positive review

The late seating thing happened when I went in 2018 and didn’t bother us too much.

Maybe Disney farms its own Vietnamese Catfish? I've seen catfish in the Land ride aquaria, as well as Tilapia. I didn't get to check the origin. Either way, it would be nice to know what you're eating. I think I'll ask from now on. Being that it was in the UK pavilion, I somehow assumed it was cod or haddock.
