If any dining plan is offered...

Do I book a value and get one QS meal and upgrade to full QS meals or go to a moderate and get the QS meals ...hope. It makes sense, I’m trying to work out what might be the cheapest way of doing it, that if they, offer any free QS in April. Thanks for any help.

No way of knowing in advance, you need to price it up at the time and see which is best. I have seen it go either way.

you need to do the maths with whatever is on offer

moderates will probably come with a $200 gift card, that needs to be accounted for

but the question is, will you be eating through all of your credits (QS and snacks) if you upgrade, or go for a moderate
the "cheapest way to do it" could be value + 1 credit, and going OOP for the rest of the meals

then the "cheapest way to do it" would be not to stay on disney property to begin with, dining plan or no dining plan

if you will stay on property, AND think you need a full quick service dining plan ... then it's an easy question
price of a value + upgrade to QSDP vs. price of moderate with QSDP minus gift card, whichever is cheapest

if your main concern is to get it as cheap as possible, then it's just a matter of comparing the price tags and choose the lowest

or maybe, there is more to your value vs. moderate question than you care to admit

that will also needs considering. For a few hundred quids, a nicer, quieter hotel sometimes outweighs the cost and can stretch a budget

the only thing you know for sure, is that you should not consider any resort just yet, in order not to make plans of your dream vacations until you're sure you can afford one or the other. And that will depend, and only be known, when and if, next years deals will be on offer.

Thanks for both your replies. My son 22 has many disabilities and my husband, so staying offsite is not really a option for us, none of us drive either. Staying on site will be so convenient for buses etc. We stayed three years ago at French Quater and it was perfect for our needs, but we are planning to go back in 2021 and our budget, is fairly limited, but leaving it any longer could impact on my sons health. I was just asking a question to see what may or may not be best, I will of course wait and see if any offers are available and see on prices and what the best quote, I can get. , once again I can’t thank you enough for prompt replies.

When I priced it up a value and upgrading to QSDP is marginally cheaper than a moderate for 2 adults however when you take the gift card into account there’s not much in it. When you push it to 3 you may find the moderate is cheaper.

It depends how many in room. For 2 of us paying for ddp in a value was cheaper than a moderate with free dining. You just have to price when offer is released. Usually cheaper to book own flights. Disney are very flexible and will move dates no charge as long as same price or dearer.
So we booked hotel, dining, tickets and magical express with disney and then flights separately.

We are going next year, We are staying in POFQ we are taking our adult Daughter and sharing a room with us.

We chose POFQ as we find this resort quieter and more suitable to ours and our Daughters needs. On price we found it only came out marginally more expensive than a value resort, Then when we added the $200 free Disney dollar card as well there was very little in it.

The little extra we did pay is worth it to us as we love POFQ. That saying we have stayed at POP and loved it.

We book our flight separately and go with whoever is offering the best price, Next year we go with VA as we got a good deal. We book everything else through Disney.

Good luck in your planning
