If you can afford to pay for an upgrade then I think it’s worth it however much you pay. It’s a long flight and the extra legroom is a huge benefit (particularly if you are tall as I am).
I think the way to look at it is exactly as you have done taking account of the price you paid originally so have a fab holiday 😊
