Ok so they are saying land borders will open in conjunction with air travel…..so currently the land borders will expire on the 21st October so by then we should have a November date by my thinking as that one will need extending to the intended date.

Based on today’s rumours, I think we’re looking at 2 scenarios now.

1. They announce the date is the 8th in the next few days. Virgin start flying out from the 8th and BA from the 15th.

Or

2. They announce the date is the 8th on or around the 21/22 October. It’s too late for Virgin who cancel flights from 8th-14th and both airlines begin flying on the 15th.

I think scenario 2 is the most likely, unfortunately for those booked in the second week. But hopefully it would still give people enough time to rearrange to indirect flights rather than lose their trip.

Selfishly, if it's the 8th I will be miffed (PG version applied!) as my flight for the 6th was canned yesterday. Should be alright for Thanksgiving though, which I always believed was their internal target to be open for.

I think we can say with some degree of confidence that any official announcement will be made no later than next Thurs, given the Canada/Mexico border declaration expiration. Ideally we get something before that, but at least the end is in sight and we’ll finally know one way or another how it’s going to go.

S27

Our BA flight on 7th Nov was cancelled a couple of days ago. We rebooked and fingers crossed we'll still be there on Thanksgiving - assuming Joe lets us know that we can travel by then.

Our only contribution to increased local traffic on TD will be breakfast on the 27 and dinner at Bob Evans near Posner. In between we'll be on the pool deck at Highgate in 80+ F sunshine.

Sleeping Beauty has guaranteed our turkey dinner for months.

Mick
