The Sofitel at Heathrow and Gatwick used to be our hotels of choice when flying from London pre children. Now, with 2 kids, they want to put us in a suite for £400+. Now our hotel of choice is a Premier Inn for £50 (or less). The saving will easily pay the extra for short stay parking at the airport.

I just can’t see the value when I’m going to be arriving fairly late , having breakfast (maybe) and then leaving. All I want is a comfy bed, shower and clean room for such a short stay .
One of my nicest hotel stays was Yotel in one of their capsules , checked in about 9pm ,woke early , walked yards to the check in ,checked in dropping bags, stopped and picked up Costa for breakfast and took it back to bed, watched a bit of TV , showered and wandered through security. The most relaxing airport departure day ever and the tiniest room but I didn’t need a big room or a tarmac view .
I did the Yotel once for a day room for a few hours sleep and absolutely hated it. Great if it works for you though

Interested in the bag drop in the Sofitel, we are staying there this December before our flight to LA. What is the process?

I don't think it's in operation at present. Although that may change as travel really gets going again

Ba Bag Drop restarted a while ago.

However, if you are staying over do you want to bother? Particularly with Orlando flights at Mid day? You obviously only have hand luggage for the evening and next day. Works better IMO if you live near an airport and can go in and do it the night before. That’s just me though.

Have to say that we are flying from Gatwick next summer with son and his family and I have booked PI attached to South Terminal, half price of Sofitel and includes breakfast (well PI breakfast) it's just a bed for the night before!
