Calling taxis

Silly question,
Have been using the mears fare estimator and think we'll be using them a few times during our stay.

What's the best (read cheapest hah) way to call them? Via mobile (using 3 payg feel at home), or the phone in the hotel room, or ask reception to book them?

Are you staying onsite? I found that the AOA last year had taxi's waiting in the car park and if you just go outside reception they would call them over for you. I imagine this will be the same with most onsite hotels.

If not I would go to your reception and ask them to call one for you.

We used Mears and I think it was star last year and had to say much preferred the Star (something like that) taxi's. Much friendlier, didn't speak on their mobiles whilst driving (like almost all Mears drivers did), they waited till our daughter was buckled in before driving off (Mears literally as soon as the door was closed would be zooming along). We got at least 7 Mears taxi's whilst there and almost every one was the same.

Although sadly there isn't much choice when they are waiting outside the hotel lobby for you to use.

For next time we have contacted a few of the companies who advertise on here (transport companies) for some quotes to take us to different parks, from HRH to AKL etc and they seem very good. Might be worth a look xx
