Headphones & BA IFE Question(s)
Having never flown BA before, can someone tell me what the IFE connection is for headphones, assume it’s the standard 3.5mm input but is it a 1 prong or 2 prong input?
Myself and DH just use our iphone Headphones which have the lightning bolt end (we have the adaptor that changes it from Lightening bolt to allow 3.5mm input) so assume I just need to purchase a couple of 3.5mm to 3.5mm cables and then we can use those for the IFE? Just realised that the new headphones we got DD a while ago don’t have a 3.5mm jack (Bluetooth) so we are not going to be able to connect those, I think her old pair might have one but the battery life on them was so poor they might not even last a full movie – Done suppose you can get micro USB to 3.5mm adaptors can you? And if so would it work connecting the headphones to the IFE using the micro USB or are they usually charging only ports on headphones? Just getting DS some new headphones now so will make sure they have a 3.5mm socket on them (not many do these days! ) It’s going to prove increasingly difficult in years to come to connect personal headsets to IFE if they only have a connection available via 3.5mm jack as so many Bluetooth headphones do not support this functionality now! Found a belter pair of Sony ones for DS half price this weekend but no 3.5mm port so couldn’t get them. |

Yeah it's the 3.5mm jack and it was 1 prong. Don't know about the iphone headphones, don't have an iphone so don't know what the connection is like.
I have Bose bluetooth headphones and connected them to the BA IFE using a bluetooth transmitter. amazon/Bluetooth-D...eiver+wireless This plugs into the headphone jack and is paired with your headphones. Needs charged and can be done so with a usb connection, used this for a flight to New York and back and didn't need charged. There are USB sockets anyway so if it did need charged you would be able to do so. |

Actually I have got our iPhone headphones backwards - We are going to need something that converts the Lightening Plug to 3.5mm, does anyone know what it's called - all my searches are returning the below but I need the oposite of that!

Just to make you aware we flew on Saturday to Toronto and got upgraded to their premium economy and they were a 2 prong input.
They provided the headphones which I found really uncomfortable! Looking forward to travelling back in economy so I can use my own earphones ha ha!

Oooo possibly! Basically I was looking for something that just has the 2 ends as shown in the red circles below - the connector in the black square is what my earphone connecter looks like, so I wonder if just plugging that in to the top red circle then connecting the 3.5mm Jack end in to the IFE would work

That's weird isn't it, that they have 2 prong in Premium and 1 prong in Economy! Airline headphones are always terrible aren't they!
Might get some double adaptors just incase, I don't think they are very expensive are they. In the nicest possible way, I hope you don't get upgraded on the way home so you can use your own headphones haha |
