independence day
Have friends going and will be there on 4th July. Do any parks do anything special for independence day, and are the parks crazy busy?

Last did Independace day I need 1996 and would never do it again! We were staying on site and stupidly went to MK - you could hardly move and these were the days when crowds were nothing like they are today! However I reckon as long as the avoid MK it should be fun and being outdoors at night is amazing when the whole world seems to be setting off fireworks - never seen anything like it!

Parks are mega busy...especially MK... we do MK on the night of the 3rd as the fireworks are the same, outstanding show
We done Universal early entry 2 years ago and it was quiet until lunchtime then we fought against the crowds to leave This year we are having a pool morning, then a meal at Celebration tavern and the night in Celebration...staying away from the parks |

My DH believes there's no other place to be on July 4th than Magic Kingdom. Thankfully we have only been there twice in July over the years 1996 and 2005. There's no doubt that there is a fantastic atmosphere, but it is jam packed. My memory is hazy about length of queues and one time we even managed to get a dinner without an ADR. The fireworks are simply fab. They used to bring back "Fantasy in the Sky" for 4th July, which is my all time favourite firework show and was eventually replaced by Wishes (my all time least favourite). I don't know which firework show they do now on 4th July, but it will be spectacular anyway. They also show them on 3rd July.
Don't even think of dressing your children in red, white, or blue if you want to keep track of them -they will be safer in orange or green in the crowds (seriously!). Having said all that, I would do it again.

Years ago we visited MK on Independence Day. It was rammed! But what an atmosphere! They had to stop letting people in around 12pm, as they had reached park capacity. We were mentally prepared for it, so just made the most of the day. But it was all worth it to stand at the bottom of Main Street for the grand Red, White & Blue firework display at night - Brought my Mum & I to tears.
Not everyone's idea of a great day but the memories sure have stuck with us. My nephew was 6 at the time. He is now 25 & still remembers that day Zoe x

We did July the 3rd in Magic Kingdom and it had the fireworks on and was far quieter than the actual 4th which was rammed!.I wouldn't recommend the 4th in any Park!

I would recommend the fireworks on the 3rd July also, we did this and spent the next day chilling at the pool then a nice meal at night. We were up early on the 5th for an early start at the parks. We found the whole area really busy around the 3rd-5th then it settles down after this.

Thank you for replies, i think they may be thinking of epcot, but i feel it may possibly be one of those days where there are quite a lot of drunk people, they are only going once to epcot and mk so trying to help them work out what park would be best on the 4th as its also there dd birthday!

Been there twice during July 4th and loved it..First time we spent the evening in Epcot and the firework display was awesome, and then the second time we went to MK around 4.00pm and stayed until midnight, again the special firework show was amazing..Yes it was very very busy, but manageable for us..
