We've flown with BA the last couple of years and they have been fine.
We don't mind flying indirect as we enjoy the break (assuming not too long layover) especially on the homeward flight.

We are going back today via Atlanta.
We found it really easy , there were lots of people on our flight transiting to other flights and there were loads of people at Atlanta to point you in the right direction.
We saved a lot of money and would definitely do it again.
Just ensure you have plenty of time to transit as security has been tighter & the queue was pretty big here today for our connecting flight and that’s just at small Southwest Florida airport .

We saved ~£1800 flying indirect so definitely worth the saving (it was actually quicker door to door than the previous year direct due to issues at immigration/baggage!).

You'll be fine, it's very straightforward.

We would go indirect again, however managed to get a good price direct for 2018, but will consider for future trips
