ESTA confused!

I applied for my new esta on the 28th, my old one was still valid until the end of May. Just got the confirmation for my new esta and it is only valid until 22nd January 2019.
I can't see any reason for this, has anyone had this happen?

Is that maybe when your current passport runs out?

Does your passport run out in January 2019?

(ESTAs last for two years or until passport expiry, whichever comes first. And remember, new passport = new ESTA)

Agreed my son's passport runs out on 22nd may soon as I finished his esta i got a notification that it was expiring lol

Can't do anything about it since I'm abroad and Irish passports take 6 weeks we needed the passport for Feb and March trips home so didn't have anytime to renew. It's only $14 anyway. The price of 2 beers in Disney lol.

My passport runs out in 2025 so I'm confused, unfortunately there is no provision to question this on line.
My partner looked and his runs for 2 years, we did then both at the same time!
I really don't know what I can do about it

Random thought: did you enter the correct passport expiry date and in the US date format?

When you completed the esta are you sure that you gave the correct details about the expiry of your passport.
