Chessington - strategy
Any Chessington regulars out there?
Would love to know any good strategies for tackling the park. We have 1.5-2 days there (weekend) and will be staying at the safari Hotel. Will be using the early morning hours and likely head straight for Jumanji both days... Then where do we go? What is best? We have a 6 and 2yr old. thanks in advance.

We used to go regular,
Please know that during early morning times not all rides are open, hardly any are in fact unless that has changed recently. But the rides for the younger kiddos are open so I would get those done mostly in the morning. Also, a lot of the Animals are out for breakfast in the morning so could be nice for the kids to see them without having many people pushing to look.

Thank you both... We need to get eldest height checked whether we do this at the service point or at Mandrill Mayhem. This may dictate the strategy really...
But likely then head over to the likes of Gruffalo and Room on the Broom. They will both love these. then also Vampire or Dragon Fury again depending on the height of DS1. He is 120.5 with his trainers on as we measure him but not sure how the measurement will work at Chessington!

Have you downloaded the app?
I always check out the queue times the week before on the same day I’m going to get an idea of what gets busy when. Weekend queues are usually far longer than weekdays ones outside of the holiday so you need to checkout those days specially. If you are doing hotel early hours there usually aren’t actually that many rides open other than the kids ones so definitely check out what is open before you plan on heading to a specific area of the park. Gruffalo wait times can be long so that’s 1 I’d definitely prioritise if is open then If your doing a full day worth considering doing the animal trails etc around lunch time/early afternoon when the ride queues peak then hit the rides again later as people leave and wait times drop. |

amazing, thank you. I have the app downloaded so will check this weekend. We are there for 2 full days before flying off to NYC from Heathrow.
So just going to enjoy the park and get done what we can. Will probably get down again in the summer if we enjoy it. Combine it with a visit to legoland. Whilst they are for different ages, I am hoping that the opening weekend of Hyperia at Thorpe Park may have an affect on the crowds at Chessington... or maybe wishful thinking. Thanks and well noted about the Gruffalo. We will head straight there after Mandrill Mayhem if we can get on that.
