Sadly, holidays over for this year but we’ve had so many lovely breaks away. My birthday holiday was lovely, it was a shame it rained so heavily on my birthday so I didn’t manage to get my wish to spend my birthday at the theme park. We did have a couple of fun days at PortaVentura though and my actual birthday turned into a very nice chilled day with cocktails and a delicious meal. Thank you all for the birthday wishes

Now we are home we’ve taken Rolo to the vets for a check up, she’s pleased with how the infection has healed, but an improvement will be limited without an operation which is highly risky so we don’t want to put him through that at his age. So he has to live with the cyst, which is unsightly and could rupture again and bleed and also could become infected. We have antiseptic lotion to keep it clean and of course we will take him to the vet again if there’s any further issues but for now, he’s doing as well as he can do, and he’s got a good quality of life so we will keep him comfortable as long as we are able to. He’s happy though so we’re grateful for that

Is it too early to mention the Christmas word yet? We’re scaling down how much we buy this year as we’ve retired. The children buy what they want for themselves now so don’t really need anything much so we’ve decided to just buy a couple of small gifts each to open on the day and enjoy spending the day together with them. Sadly our eldest won’t be here of course as he lives with his wife in Vietnam but we’ll call and chat with them on the day too. But Georgia, our DS and his fiancée will be here for a few days over the Christmas week.

I'm so pleased you had a lovely time, despite the rain on your birthday. Thanks for updating on Rolo as well, I had been thinking about him.

It's never to early to mention Christmas in November

It's probably just the two of us this year as Mum (96) wants to stay at the care home and my sister is visiting her son and his family in the US

Great photos DD! Especially that huge cocktail! Woo!

We are planning Christmas Day dinner here, at ours so Terry can rest if he needs to.
I need to start seriously looking at my Christmas shopping list for others as I’ve not even thought about it yet!
Scaling down sounds wise for all of us really it’s always too much isn’t it. Then January is about fifteen weeks long!

My dream Christmas would be to be in Orlando now that would be amazing….

Thanks for the update DD. Pleased you enjoyed your holiday despite the rain and that Rolo has improved for the moment.
It's never too soon to mention Christmas! I have the issue of family birthdays Inc mine from now onwards. I've 4 lots of birthday gift to wrap this weekend 🤣
In other news, I've resigned from the garden centre so finish at the end of the month. I've been frustrated by various things for months but last weekend was brutal with lack of staff, 6 down, managers weekend off, he knew there would be problems but he was a no show, and we absorbed customers from another centre which had a major fire. Absolute nightmare so it's a relief knowing I'm going, typically they finally sacked the girl who had caused everyone problems! I'm just waiting for the extra Christmas discount as I've a long shopping list 😅
Christmas tree will go up early December, I've a food delivery booked for 23rd as we'll be 5 this Christmas, our 1st in the new house, as away last year, so I'm looking forward to family time. 😊

Thank you xx 96, what a wonderful age, I can understand why your mum feels she’s happy to stay where she is for Christmas Day and how lovely for your sister to be visiting her son in the US for Christmas. I hope you have a good, relaxing Christmas with your OH xx

They certainly make big cocktails in Salou 🍹😂 A family Christmas at home with Terry sounds perfect this year, I hope it’s good for you all 💞 Scaling back sounds good but I’m constantly thinking I should start buying more so it’s taking some getting used to. Georgia is home this week for a visit, so I showed her the desserts I’ve bought and put in the freezer for Christmas, she said how lovely they looked then gently pointed out that she’s only home 6 days so I don’t need as many desserts 😂

My dream Christmas would be for all our children to be with us at Christmas, preferably at WDW 🥰

Rolo is feeling much brighter in himself especially the past couple of days. He was so happy to see Georgia come home for a short visit yesterday 🥰

Such a shame it didn’t work out at the garden centre, but it’s the right thing to leave if it’s making you unhappy. Makes sure you get full use of your discount for your Christmas gifts before you leave though 😂 Your first Christmas in the new house will be so lovely too especially with the family there to celebrate with you xx

Definitely not too early for Christmas talk! I've got most of my shopping in and DS & family are having money as their main gifts as they have a hol booked in January. Just booked Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for April as one of DD gifts (and I get to go too).
I think I enjoy December and the build up, more than actual Christmas day! We have a lovely overnighter booked for DH birthday, DS is coming down for a weekend mid month and we're going to York xmas market, I have a theatre trip and meal with friends and a couple of 'Festive' afternoon teas booked too.

You are very efficient to have most of your shopping done already. I love all your pre-Christmas plans too.

We had a lovely day out with the family yesterday. DH, myself and Georgia met our son and his partner in Cardiff and saw a really good play in the smaller stage area of the WMC called Pontypool and then had a great Japanese meal together. It’s always nice to spend time with the family 💞

Sounds a lovely day out!
I'm a 'squirreller' - I start in the January sales and put things away all year when I see offers etc. Usually by the end of October I'm pretty much done and can concentrate on little extras, and food. My SiL is the same

That’s lovely to be so well organised, my mum used to be similar, but she’d buy things in January and forget she’d bought it and buy it again in the run up to Christmas. Either that, or she forgot where she hid them 😂
