Taking a pushchair on virgin

I am flying virgin (Heathrow to MCO) next April with my 3.5 year old son.

I’m buying the Hauck runner pushchair as it looks like a good one to take to Disney.

But I’ve not flown with a child before - how does it work with putting the pram on the plane?

I don’t want to check it in because I feel my son would want to sit in it at Heathrow because he can get a bit overwhelmed with new things.

Do I have to fold it down through security?
And do I just give it to a flight attendant before we get in the plane for them to put in the hold?

Many thanks

There are ones which you can get that can be taken onboard and out in over head lockers

I already have a bugaboo butterfly which is cabin approved but the wheels are tiny and flimsy. I need a sturdy pram for Disney world especially when my 3 year old is very tall for his age and is 17kg.

Either drop at "oversized" luggage and goes straight to the hold, or use within the airport and drop off at the gate when you board.

I bought ours for this reason, however bought a buggy bag and left it at the gate. Collected in MCO.

Was just something else to carry on board whilst navigating a 3yr old. Has served us well however and will be coming again next year even though will be used less and less.

Missed this...

Yes, we had to fold to go through scanner at security.

VA will give you a bag tag and then hand it to the ground staff prior to boarding. It will be at the carousel when you get your cases.
