It’s on Virgin holidays to put your pick up and drop off times to coincide with your flights. It’s not on hertz.

When I went to the booth to complain, the guy just amended my car return time to 15:00 to make it under the grace period. Inbound flight was amazingly 70mins early.

Ok so it’s not virgin holidays’ fault, or hertz’s. It’s just one of the issues when you have an early flight. We all have to deal with it at some stage if pick up/drop off times are going to be similar. Making note of the actual pick up time is always key in these situations, and knowing your grace period allowance.

Another vote here for booking the additional days car hire - which I appreciate isn't possible for those who have booked packages.

I would have thought that booking a package with those times would already be calculating the exact times can hire is required. In this scenario you would be paying for X days which should cover the extra few hours.

I called up this a few months ago with virgin hols, they changed our flight times so I asked them to change pick up and drop off times, this Saturday we land at mco around 3ish and I’ve said pick up for 4pm and when we return in a month the flight home is around 8pm so asked to return car at 6pm and they changed it all and I even ended up with a £48 refund lol, must have been cheaper than when I originally booked it.
That said I don’t trust it and will probably return the car around the time I picked it up as I was always led to believe the car hires are worked out on 24hours from pick up time with the grace period added on too.
We will see lol

If your times state 4pm and 6pm then you’ve paid for the extra day. If you actually picked up at say 3.30, you’d have until 3.30 the day after your flight to drop off, plus grace period.

I thought that would be the case but just from messaging them I got £48 back too!
