My friend is a dermatologist and told me a lot of cheap moisturisers will do exactly the same as the expensive ones.

She said the only thing that will truly make your skin look younger is a face lift.

I have no recommendations. I’m a sucker for a miracle!

My son saw a dermatologist recently and I asked her about collagen supplements. She was very direct:

“That is one way to have an expensive pee!”

So that saved me a few quid 😆

Cutting down sugar is the best thing I have done for my skin. The wine I can live without but chocolate is another matter!

I totally agree that a large part of it comes down to genetics & general lifestyle elements, such a staying hydrated, using SPF, not smoking.

I have always just ensured I wash my face properly (i.e. don't leave make-up on overnight) and use a daily moisturiser. I don't really wear heavy make-up a lot either, which I believe can help me.

My mum is in her 70s and has always looked younger than her age. And she doesn't have a very extensive skincare regime either.

Not face creams but my Mum used fairy liquid for years. As a shampoo!
She was 91 when she passed away and was still not totally grey and had many compliments on her healthy hair all her life! X

I used to be a sucker too but then started doing a bit of research and I discovered I wasn’t giving it long enough. So, as we get older our skin takes longer to cycle (there is a better name for that) and what I was doing was buying something new, trying for a few days, it did nothing then tried something else!

What I’ve started doing now is using the same stuff every day and having a consistent routine and I have found there has been a difference. My skin isn’t how I want it but it’s much better than 9 months ago.

I use revolution pro day and night cream as I read they are practically the same as Charlotte Tilbury (mmmm, not sure), eye cream, spf and have been using a copper peptides during the day. At night I night cream with niacinamide and some squalene oil and a couple of times a week I might use an exfoliant. Lately I have found my skin is getting a bit sensitive again and so I’ve cut down on the copper peptides as I think that’s it so might need to find a new serum.

One thing that has made a big difference to me is my LED mask. Not saying it’s a miracle but I think it has helped, although I’m having a few changes overall at the moment so perhaps need to cut that back too!

Agree with others, a lot of it is genetics, drinking water, no sugar and alcohol etc but I won’t give up my wine so need other solutions!

It’s probably down to genetics and life style, and avoiding too much sun exposure! I use a good (but not necessarily expensive) moisturiser, because I get very dry skin, but that’s more to do with comfort than looks. Other than that, I just wash my face and hope for the best 😂

I rarely wear makeup but when I do I use Olay Daily facial cloths to wash it off. Even then I cut them in half so one lasts two days.

In the shower I use Simple Moisturising Kind to Skin Facial Wash.

I use Olay Pro Vital Day and Night Creams night Anti Wrinkle Cream which I only buy when it is on offer. Never spend more than £7.

God knows what actually works but I am a vision of beauty and far too mean to spend a fortune on a lost cause.

I was a sucker for expensive stuff. I used Elemis pro collagen marine cream and serum. I swapped - as an experiment- to aldi q10 serum and night cream … can honestly say I have noticed no difference at all now that I am spending a lot less.
I do like Elemis cleansing balm and cloth for a deeper clean, but generally just use micellar water.
Re taking collagen - I was told the same - makes no difference to skin.

I've been using Elemis Pro Collagen but I don't find it moisturising enough for me so I've been using their facial oil alongside it. I really can't tell any difference to my skin from when I was using Nivea.

I've heard that the Aldi one is actually really good? I think it's £1.50 a pot if thats the one you're referring to? If you don't get on with it then it's not money down the drain at least. I may give it a go!
