That’s just reminded me I boroughs the first book on a good friend’s recommendation last year…and haven’t read it yet!

As Lucinda sadly died in 2021 aged 56, her son, Harry Whittaker, completed the book, have you noticed a writing difference in the 8th book?

Not at all, he talks quite a bit at the start of the book about writing it and her notes, plans etc.

Others may pick up on different writing styles, but to be honest, I'm so absorbed in their stories that I haven't

I am currently reading the new ‘Hunger Games’ book: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
I think it might be classed as a young adult book along 🤷 but I enjoyed the others so I thought I would give it a go.
I have just started it and already really enjoying it 🤩🤩 its set in a period when president Snow was a 18 year old student 👍🏻

My DD22 loves the Hunger Games series and she read the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes last year and really enjoyed it. The film of the book is being released in November I believe

Just been to 2 festivals & each had a show called the dark room (a hilarious live action old school video game show). Turns out the guy who does it, John Robertson, had also written a kids book. He was selling it for £5 signed & dedicated (mine says YA DIE! YA DIE! ) so I bought it but knew nothing of it.

At the second festival my wife came & we went to see him doing a reading of it... It's hilarious! We can't recommend it enough! Though be warned, Although it's aimed at say young adults, it's a bit disturbing & gruesome! In the first 2 chapters the 2 kids of the book have already seen their nasty dad ground into mince & given back to them, which they cook & eat!

But he was a bad man. He once punched a horse so hard it turned into a donkey.
He then punched the donkey & it died.
This all happened in a pet shop... That didn't sell horses... Or donkeys... He'd just took it along so that he had something to punch.

Thanks. Got these after your recommendation and loved the whole series. Being a northerner it was nice to know the places they visited. Would love a bacon stottie right now

Just finished reading The Wasp Factory. It’s very dark but a brilliant book.
Currently reading The Book Thief which is so far very good.
