Assuming it actually happens, it will be referred to as Universal Studios Great Britain (it seems). In the same way that there's Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Singapore. That's the domain name they've registered.

It's only because there are two Universal Studios in the USA that they are referred to by their nearest cities rather than Universal Studios USA.

Arguably, they could call it Universal Studios London. London is only just over 50 miles away, which is less than Melbourne Orlando airport is away from Orlando.

Anyway, sure, it's likely all Comcast will do with this land is build some offices on it and/or maybe a production studio. Either that or hold onto the land and then sell it when it's worth a bit more. But it's nice to dream.

Exactly. The "London" Resort wasn't exactly going to be in London, for instance.

As well as all the usual theme park websites, it's now being reported in the Sun (with a very misleading headline):

https://www.thesun.co.uk/travel/2509...e-park-beford/

Also, there's some concept art that's popped up from somewhere:

It's because I worked on the story (not the Sun).

Just glad to see it out there and now we play the waiting game.

If it's anything like Texas, the local council might force Universal's hand to make an announcement sooner than later.

If true then it's such a shame it cannot be more in the middle of the country.

I'm glad someone else mentioned the weather, that was my first thought! Universals rides are largely simulator type things indoors. I can see a park full off indoor attractions.

Shame it's not a GB disneyland

I would think it would be more likely to be actual film and tv studios rather than a theme park. Things like the squid games challenge (the real life one not the movie) have been filmed in Cardington near Bedford so they may have have just been making a play to buy near there and register it as their own uk filming location.

not really the case though ? surely both disney & universal have a fair share of indoor & outdoor rides ?

but in the UK the whole thing needs to be undercover to give year round appeal
