Ours have been reinstated!
Very quick and efficient.
I wonder how much they lose to this?!

Yikes, glad you got them back in the end.

I recalled reading about this on the Dibb and it’s just happened to me too! Only had about £40 of nectar points and only ever redeem them at Xmas. Noticed today app showing less than £2 worth. Rang nectar and apparently my points were redeemed in London two days ago- I live about 70 miles from that store and never been there. Without hesitation, they’ve said they’re sending me a new Nectar card and reinstating my points. Interestingly, the redemption isn’t showing on the app which it normally does straightaway. I had no way of proving it wasn’t me or exactly how many points I had so will def be taking the odd screenshot of my nectar app from now on!

Weird thing happened to me about 6 weeks ago. I too save them for Christmas and had £77 in my account, it was the time there were a couple of bonus schemes on at Sainsburys so I was keeping close watch to see if the extra points went onto my account. One morning there was a transaction of 1 point earned in Clapham Station, I live in the north-west so it certainly wasn't me or DH.

I called Nectar but as points hadn't been removed the agent was not very helpful and said he'd give me a new account number and send a new card out but left my current one active. Luckily I have a household account so transferred all my points into DH's Sainsburys account as a voucher. I didn't want to do this as Sainsburys may operate a 'double up' scheme closer to Christmas but I didn't want to loose my points. A few days later there was another transaction on my account in Chelmsford for £70. I guess when they made the first transaction they were able to see on the receipt what my nectar balance was and went in to spend it as you are still able to do it easily on the self-service tills. I mentioned this to nectar but they really didn't seem to care.

All fraudsters have to do is auto generate bar codes until they get one that works, get the balance from a small transaction and go to a Sainsbury's store and use the self-service tills. It is pretty annoying that they are not more secure. I advise everyone to check their accounts daily if you have a large amount of points.

I’ve been back and forth to nectar today and now transpires there was a redemption of points a few days before the big one which I assume was a test! Looking online this is a huge issue at the moment. They’re sending me a new card and have text details of a new one to add to the app but it won’t add and asks to send a link to my email address and then says I don’t have an email address even tho they’ve been sending emails to it for flipping years and it’s linked to my account. I’m now trying live chat as fed up hanging on the phone!

Yes I had all this and on the third attempt managed to get someone to sort it, I think they've blocked your account which is what happened to me, as I said luckily DH had his nectar account connected to mine so I was able to move the points to him and that way stop them getting their greedy hands on them.

Yes Nectar blocked the card and sending me a new one and in the meantime have text me the number. They’re now telling me my security question is wrong even though I literally confirmed it about ten minutes earlier, they’ve said my email address is wrong - after me querying it, they’ve come back and said all the information I’m giving is correct! They’ve even had the cheek on the phone to tell me today is my lucky day as they can reinstate the stolen points today rather than me waiting 2-3 days! Not a lot of use when I don’t have a flipping card 😡 from what I’ve seen online today, they’re losing a lot of money at Sainsbury’s due to purchases made on stolen nectar cards, but I’m not sure what nectar lose?

No thanks to them, but trial and error and I’ve managed to get my new card details back on the nectar app and my missing points have been added back.
I’ve not heard of anyone having same issue with Tesco club card but found loads online about this nectar issue so amazing it’s not made national news!

I agree I do think Tesco's is more secure, I need to check my Boots card and see if that is easy to hack, I usually just use them points for online purchases.

Three times I’ve asked what nectar are doing about what is clearly a national issue and they’ve not answered! My card is on the app, I only use the physical card very rarely if paying at pump, so that was my first thought of where it’s been cloned. It’s taken so long to get it sorted today, I’m a bit annoyed there’s no compensation points being added but probably as it’s such a massive problem right now
