Is a Nectar card actually worth having? I've put off getting one but there now joining earning with Marriott so you can convert Nectar points to them, as I'm a Platinum member the more points the better for us with Marriott, but reading about all these being hacked is now putting me off!
Can you have them converted immediately like you can with Tesco to Virgin?

I tend to only use mine for Sainsbury's but have used them in Argos. You can change them straight away in multiples of 500 points which is equal £2.50, not sure if it would be them same with Marriott. My advice would be to check your account daily for any strange transactions. I currently have £10 on my account as at Christmas Sainsbury's sometimes have using points offers on.

Clearly they’ve not found a way to prevent this as mine were taken over the weekend. Pretty easy to sort but a bit of a pain nonetheless

I think they may be wise to the pattern of spend but not able to prevent it.
Mine had a £1 purchase first which gives the opportunity to get a receipt showing available points. The 500 were used at Sainsbury’s Nine Elms last Friday, following which I received an email. I didn’t get the chance to call on Saturday and most of the balance were used at Sainsburys Beckton. Again I got an email. The lines are closed Sunday so I called today and got it sorted.
I live in the north east and was here all weekend. I think the Sainsburys where they were used are in London area.
It’s a bit after the event but you are notified so it’s maybe not necessary to check every day as that wouldn’t prevent it either. At least they deal with it quickly and without argument but it must be costing them a huge amount.
There are some real scum out there as it is stealing and they’ve no idea of the personal circumstances of those they steal from and clearly don’t care 😡

Same thing happened to us.
We had one of those ‘scratch to win nectar points’ alerts that you get when you’ve just checked out sometimes but we were both at home. We thought it was odd but there was no evidence of anything in our transactions until the morning. They’d also spent £1 to begin with as we’d been issued with 1 point.
We used ours for wine at the weekend and I noticed an email in my junk confirming that points had been spent which I don’t think I’ve ever had before

Just seen this thread, we had ours stolen last wee, first I knew was I got an email saying confirmation, your recent points activity, which as I was at work puzzled me. They had used 500 points in longbridge which is about 200 miles from where I live, I rung them straight away but as its a joint account and my wife is the name its in they said she would have to get in touch but they would block the card for redemptions.

DW contacted them next day and they said everything is blocked and new cards will be sent out and it investigated and we will get our points back, then much to my surprise I get another email the next day saying all our points had been used. I rang them straight away as now allowed to after DW added me for contact on the account but just got standard
answers about it being investigated.

We currently can't log in to our account and are waiting for new cards. For info we never use the actual card as we always use the scan and shop off the app.

I’m still yet to read of anyone having their Tesco CC points stolen, it’s always Nectar so can’t help thinking more could easily be done to prevent this happening

Bless her, glad they're sorting it for her.

This is the time of year everyone's balances are high with people saving for Christmas, I was too. I moved mine into Sainsbury's e-vouchers as soon as I suspected something was up with a £1 spend in London on my card. I now check a couple of times a day and I've only got £14 there but they're not getting their grubby thieving hands on it.

I do wish Nectar/Sainsburys would do something to tighten things up on it, I've now started shopping at Tesco more as I feel their points are safer.
