If virgin do devalue the points level they will seriously need to rethink the taxes. As with their current taxes and fees with a lower points value will make them stupidly expensive.

Guess we will have to wait a month to see if this is positive or negative

Goes live the actual day I need to look for flights to Orlando next September . I was planning on using points as have 200k , will be interesting to see what that buys me when I log in and book on 30th October.
I would like to believe it’s a good change as more availability but cannot help thinking the points needs for each seat will be way more then now ….. we will see 🤞🏻

Qatar runs a system like this, on day of release seats are often 2 or 3 times the base fare. Its a case of chicken!

It’s unlikely to be a positive change for peak time flights, which is what most are after on here.

The New York example is a bit of a red herring. Those economy off peak flights can generally be had for £350-400 year round. The taxes/fees on a reward booking are £250+. Not many people would’ve been booking reward seats.
Going down to 12k for the return won’t really entice people to book them.

It's hard to take any positives from the info given. It will be interesting to see what happens when it goes live but right now I can't see how it will be better for me personally

I will be able to book our reward seats about the middle of Oct but I was going to hold off until Black Friday in case there was a reward seat sale like last year. I'm now thinking I should just book them before the changes come in as I'm worried the no of points required is going to jump up and even with a sale they still might be more or the same as currently. I just don't know what to do!

Not sure what to do about my upcoming trips.

I have a November trip with upgrade voucher used .. may change to points booking and will my voucher then be worth 150k points ?
Will there be expiry dats on the voucher points ?

February I have a points booking I want to upgrade .. do I do it now or wait until the changes 🤔

Hopefully they will start announcing more details soon 🤞🏻
