Will loved the scones, I think he was quite pleased when he got mine too 😂

Thank you! We’re currently trying very hard to keep our eyes open after our very early morning wake up 😂 it feels like the drama with our car was about 3 days ago, not this morning!

After booking an Uber from MCO, we were at Aventura in no time - I think it took around 20 mins in the Uber with barely any traffic. The total was $30.90.

We were checked in immediately by a lovely lady called Danielle. I’d requested a room on a high floor away from the loud air con units which was granted - yay.

Our room seems to be on a bit of a corner which means it feels a bit larger than I’d expect for a standard room. We have a bit of a corridor area which opens it up quite nicely, with a little screen separating the beds and sink area. We also have a view of Cabana Bay and Volcano Bay.

Very happy with it so far!

We unpacked and decided to head into Islands of Adventure. All the queue times were pretty low across the park, with even Hagrid’s only showing as 50 minutes. We hot footed it over, but it had risen to 60 minutes by the time we arrived. We decided to chance it anyway and as luck would have it, it only took 45 minutes and we even got front row. 😁 The best first ride of our trip!

We then decided to head over to Velocicoaster which had a posted wait of 35 minutes, but it turned out to be closer to 25 minutes. Another win! Love this ride.

By this point we were feeling hungry, so we headed out to CityWalk and up to Moe’s for Will and Panda Express for me.

Will ordered a sirloin steak burrito with rice, black beans, corn, lettuce, cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, jalapeños and sour cream. He also got a side cup of queso which comes with chips and salsa. This came to $19.69.

If you’ve read any of my previous reports, you’ll know that Moe’s is a staple for Will when visiting Orlando! He loved this burrito, it was really flavourful with fresh ingredients, and of course the star of the show as always is the queso. It is so good and I always steal some with the chips!

I ordered a plate of honey sesame chicken and blazing bourbon chicken with chow mein noodles from Panda Express. I also got a side of the vegetable spring rolls. This came to $13.10.

I absolutely love these spring rolls, they always hit the spot! I also always enjoy the honey sesame chicken here (more than the orange chicken… sorry orange chicken fans!). I believe the blazing bourbon chicken is new and they did warn me that it was ‘very spicy’ but I didn’t really find it that spicy at all. This tends to be a usual theme with food in the USA though - we never find it as spicy as they do! This was another good option with the same crispy coating as the honey sesame (I think it was just covered in a different glaze) - I enjoyed having both of the chicken dishes together. The noodles were fine but could have been warmer - I’d have been happy just with the chicken to be honest! Will of course helped me with some of this too as it was huge.

We then had a look around the Epic Universe preview centre (it’s going to be so good!) and the Universal Studios store where I earmarked a HHN t-shirt I like. They’ve already reduced the merch by 70% but I’m going to hang on until Saturday because when we were in Hollywood last year, they reduced it even further than this. I’d like to wear the t-shirt when we go to HHN on Sunday if I get it! 🤞🏼

We then decided to grab a mixed Strawberry and Eye Candy frozen cocktail from Fat Tuesday and sit on the CityWalk steps taking in the atmosphere for a while. This was $15.18.

We’ve had this before and it’s great but soooo cold - you will get brain freeze and we had to keep swapping who was holding it because it was freezing our hands too. 😂 Luckily it was still very hot outside! We’ve been impressed by the weather today, it’s been lovely both daytime and this evening.

We then strolled back to Aventura via the walking path and will probably go to bed shortly. Earlier than we usually would on a travel day, but we have been up for what feels like forever today! We’re hoping to get up for IOA early entry and then have a chilled day between the parks and pools.

Day 1 total: $78.87
Overall total: $78.87

Apart from your car issue sounds like a good travel day. Love it when you manage into the parks on the first night.

Hope you are liking Aventura. I much prefer your room with the walk in shower to the bath set up we had.

What a fabulous travel day! I hope you have an amazing trip. I loved Aventura in August and would pick it over Toyal Pacific. I'd like to try the Sapphire falls pool as the hotel was beautiful when we walked through for the boat.
Love panda express!

Amber your room is huge and how wonderful they accommodated your room request. 😁 I love that you managed to tick off Hagrid’s and Velocicoaster in short order too! Will must have been so happy to go back to Moe’s, that is a hearty looking burrito. Panda Express is such great value, a shame your noddles weren’t great but the chicken looks so good. A frozen cocktail is a perfect way to end a pretty smooth travel day. 🍹🤩🇺🇸 xx
