Being a bit Goofy

My favourite Disney memory is spending Christmas 2021 on the Disney Dream. It was so magical to experience and it was fantastic to spend Boxing Day on Castaway Cay and the whole experience was a memory I will never forget

When we went for our first visit we were sure it would be a once in a lifetime trip.
On our last night we had dinner at the Rose and Crown in Epcot. My daughter got to blow the lights out around the lake and then we watched the fireworks. It was just a beautiful magical moment and I think it was then that we realised this wasn’t a once in a lifetime trip. |

I wrote a trip report of a Bitter Sweet Trip back in 2012... my parents came for the first time, and sadly the last for my mum as she was diagnoised with cancer on return and was gone withion 3 months.
They didn't get Disney, but we nagged them to come, and they did, more for the grandkids, but on entering the Magic Kingdom and seeing the castle, mum said "ah, I see why you come now..." and we grinned at eachother. Just one memory from a holiday that meant so much and returning we always talk of the happy memories we were so lucky to have had the chance to make with mum. I'd give the box to my daughter who has missed sharring so many things with her nan. Good luck everyone, look forward to reading all your memories!

My Nana, who we sadly lost 14 years ago, being so excited to see the characters at a Character Breakfast that she shouted DONALDDD! so loud across the restaurant, she looked so shocked and embarrassed afterwards but we found it hilarious 🤣She was usually quite quiet and shy but I love that the parks and magic made her come out of her shell and act like her inner child ❤️ whenever we see Donald in the parks now we have to shout it in her accent, and it's a lovely way of keeping her with us and passing on the tradition now I have my own little boy who loves disney just as much as the rest of the family

Ours was on Haunted Mansion. We had just missed the chance to get into the 1st part of the pre show, and were now the 1st family waiting at the doors. The doors opened, and we were beckoned in. We thought great, they can squeeze us in. Low and behold, we were the only ones in there, and had the pre show to ourselves! The cast member was in full on character, and when the lights went out I could sense something near me. When the lights came on, he was right in my face - good job my fight reflex didn’t kick in! He scared the cr*p out of me! We still talk about it to this day!

Excited about Disney

2010, the first time we took our daughter to any Disney park in Paris, she wasn't quite three years old yet. We watched the parade over by Bella Notte / It's a Small World and she was perched up on my shoulders. She was loving all the floats go by, but it was when the princess float came round the corner, and she was screaming for Belle over and over. Not only did she get a wave directly at us, but this was the parade where the floats would pause and the princes and princesses came down and danced before moving on. We had Belle dancing in front of us and she came over and waved up at my daughter on her way back to the float. My daughter is now 17 and we still recount the screaming at Belle story

My favourite Disney memory? That is a tough one, as there have been so many. However, if I have to pick one, it would be Tuesday February 2nd, 2016 at around 5:25pm, a date & time forever burned into my memory…
To set the scene: our last visit to WDW had been almost 4 years earlier, in the summer of 2012, when we experienced 2 truly fabulous weeks with our best friends and their son. The intervening years hadn't been kind though - through no fault of our own - so holidays were sparse and another trip to WDW was a luxury only experienced in our dreams. We had literally spent 4 years reliving that 2012 trip, not knowing if we would ever return. So, back to 2nd February 2016… We had finally got to a stage where we could look to plan a summer holiday abroad, but nothing really took our fancy. We eventually found a nice 2 week package somewhere in Cyprus that the 4 of us agreed upon, but the price was eye watering compared to our previous visits to the island. I jokingly commented to my DW that we could probably do a week at WDW for the same price… While trying to decide on a rough date to travel we suddenly realised that our DD & DS would both be finished with school by mid-June because of the perfect timing of taking their A-levels and GCSEs in the same year. We could therefore travel outside of the dreaded school holiday price-hike season. We couldn't, could we?... Our bank account at the time came with a few extras, one of which was a travel booking service with a chance of a discount, so my DW tentatively rang them to enquire about a trip across the pond. The lady who took the call was ever so helpful and, after a fair amount of searching, she came up with 2 weeks at All Star Music for the amazing price of just £615 each, which included flights. We obviously said yes! And then her computer system went down… and didn't come up again. Worse still, she hadn't been able to book anything. She apologised profusely and said she would ring us back when the system was up and working. Waiting for that call was one of the longest hours of my life. We were convinced that the amazing deal - OUR DREAM HOLIDAY - would have been snapped up by someone else who was just as desperate to go to WDW. It was torture. And then the phone rang…it was her! The deal was still available and did we still want to book? DID WE! I have never, ever experienced pure, unadulterated family joy like that moment when she told us it was booked and we were going to WDW! We all danced around the room. We all screamed with joy. We all cried. And the fantastic lady who was listening patiently on the other end of the phone said that hearing our joyful celebrations was the highlight of all her years working for the bank's travel service! Moments like that make everything worthwhile.

My favourite memory is when we went before Christmas in 2000.
I booked a holiday for my birthday it was our first since my children were born as I had returned to work the children were 7 and 5 and we told my mum and dad whilst visiting them that we had booked, my dad got very excited and asked if they could come. We of course said they could thinking nothing would come of it as it always took my dad ages to do anything but to our surprise by the time we got home (a 40 minute drive away) my dad had been to the travel agents and booked it. It was fantastic the Osbourne family lights were on at MGM (Hollywood Studios) and there were extra countries represented in marquees at Epcot. My dad had a great time and two things stand out about the trip. One was he brought me and my children gifts, this was very unusual as gifts were always brought by mum and the second thing was walking out of MGM after viewing the lights they made it snow and my dad said " if I don't live another day , I know I have seen the best". My dad died a week after we got back from the holiday, he had been putting up the Christmas lights. Even though my dad died after that holiday it is still my favourite trip as I know he had the time of his life and it still makes me smile thinking of it. Edited at 05:34 PM. |
