Excited about Disney
|
Took my twins when they were nine months old ... my stepson who had just turned 15 at the time came with us so we kind of saw it as the only opportunity for a trip with all of us together. Can't remember it being stressful, we stayed at BC, we took a cheapish double buggy with us and we used the Disney transport system most of the time. The Baby Centres were great places to stop and feed them etc. The only downside I remember was the number of staggeringly rude people who at the end of the night quite happily let me and my husband stand on the resort buses holding a baby each whilst they kept their seat (even letting one of us sit would have meant we could have held both of them whilst sitting!). I think offering up your seat must be a British thing!
Oh and beware of creating monsters ... those nine month old twins are now 16 and we've just booked their seventh trip to WDW!

We have been travelling with ds and family since the twins were 1. Grandparents are really useful when travelling with young ones! We started travelling with our own sons abroad from a very early age and found they seemed to enjoy it.

We don't have twins, but I have a 15 month old and a 3 year old. We went in April when they were 8 months and 2.5, so I have experience of travelling with two children.
First recommendation is to stay on site at Disney as it's just so much easier being able to get back to your hotel during the day if you want to just chill for a bit, or end the day early. We also liked being able to change our plans some mornings to chill at the pool before getting disney transport to a park. Also, being able to use disney transport is great as you don't need to worry about car seats. We stayed at Caribbean beach so that we could use the skyliner, which was a big selling point for us. We took the double pram, which you do need to fold up before taking on, but it wasn't an issue. In the parks themselves they have a baby care centre in each park, and they're great. We used them for going to feed our son, or change either of them. Or sometimes just for a little cool down for the both of them. We tried to plan it so that we would be going to feed them whilst the other parent went and done one of the bigger rides. Rider swap is also great so that both parents can still go on the bigger rides. One parent goes on and the second one gets their turn by using the lightning lane so they don't have to queue again. Children can go on any ride without a height restriction, and there's probably way more than you realise. Pretty much all rides in Magic Kingdom bar the rollercoasters obviously, and there are still things to do in the other 3 parks. They're free before 3, so I would def take advantage of that while it's 'cheap'. Plus free/cheaper airline fares before they turn 2. We've booked already for next year when the kids will be just under 2, and then 3.5, staying at Caribbean Beach again. We also brought my daugher when she was 7 months old (before our son was born). I actually find the younger they are, the easier it is. Before they can walk they're happy enough to sit in the pram and get pushed about, plus they'll likely have a few naps in there too. Happy to answer any other child disney related questions! And congratulations Edit to add that we have never travelled with grandparents. I would love to, but so far I'm not getting any takers |

And why not ? Life doesn’t stop because a child has been born .
We took our own kids from young babies / toddlers And we took our granddaughter at 8 weeks on a 5 state 3 week trip . She was no bother and slotted right into our holiday , She’s now 6 and has been to the usa 10 times and every trip has been full of brilliant memories. Her little brother went on his first trip to the US at 8 months . |

Been there, done that, got the T shirt etc etc, We took our 4 year old and 1 year old twin girls back in 2021. Back in those days, we booked 4 seats, so that big sister always had a seat to herself, and we had plenty of space (and luggage allowance) We flew Virgin who were so so helpful, especially cabin crew. I've told this story before, so sorry to repeat it. Come meal service, one of the crew very nicely asked if she could have a cuddle with one of the little ones. At this point, she wandered off down the aisle while the food was delivered to my wife to eat in piece, whilst I had the other baby. Upon her return, she helped our 4 year old sort herself out, while we swapped babies etc. Service above and beyond as far as I was concerned. Now, I'm not saying this is standard service, but just one example of the exemplary service we have always received from Virgin.
Tips. First off, apologise to everyone sitting near you! Honestly, by making a joke and being polite you get less tutting etc, The obvious one is plenty of 'doing' things, and of course these days with tablets and phones it's easier with games and favourite TV shows etc. Crikey, I sound like a right old codger now! You will know the sleep patterns so try and work around them, and of course, car seats and push chairs are a must, if only from the 'familiarity' stand point. Remember, It's a holiday, so relax, and try not to do too much, and maybe think about a cooler time of the year. Hot babies go from happy to grumpy to the devil incarnate within a matter of seconds! If you get a car possibly aim for an SUV, plenty of room and much easier to get little ones in and out of their car seats. Nothing earth shattering here, but hope some of it reassures you. Edit. One last (non holiday) tip. Look into joining your local TAMBA (twins and multiple birth association) if there is one, for the support network, and also possible discounts. Saving 10% on shoes does not sound a lot, until, of course, everything is multiplied by 2!
