You asked for honesty. I'd say don't go. If this could potentially be your final "big holiday" is there no where else you fancy? It's a big world.

Firstly I wish all shows did not allow anyone in after they had started the same for cinema and theatre.
If you don’t want to queue and don’t want to pay to queue less I think I would agree it’s not the place for you. We are going next year no Disney. Universal with premier hotel perk, epic long day queueing and seaworld, discovery bay etc and we will take our chances |

WDW is a money grabbing beast of a company and I hate myself for feeding the beast every year. But I love it. Ive loved it for 30 years and I always will. 😂
Universal too but that company is a lot less greedy than Disney 🤣

We had the opposite experience to you in May 2023. We never waited more than 45 minutes for a ride and that was only once or twice if that. Weather was perfect, had great service everywhere we went and never once needed LLs or Genie +

The end of the old, ‘you gotta be in it to win it’ paper fast passes was bad news for us as we were always there at Ropedrop. To use another cliche.. ‘The early bird caught the worm’.. and imho rightly so. If you want something then those prepared to go out and get it should come first.. by being actually present in the park.
Once that went, so did my visiting WDW. I never returned, despite a further 8 visits to Orlando.. and I never will.

What about Disney in California? There are 2 Disney parks there plus Universal and a lot of other places to visit?

What about an after hours? That is park pass included and very few queues. IMHO you don't need LL for AK apart from an ILL for FOP (a must do for me), just get there early. I may/may not bother for Epcot as well and I rarely go to Magic Kingdom. DHS is my favourite and I have after hours for that plus I'll probably go for rope drop another day and add a MP to ride everything pretty early hopefully. I had a trip where I struggled with Genie plus and wasn't sure if I wanted to go back but after I watched a few videos on how to get the most out of Genie Plus and that made a massive difference the next trip. See what what you think about going after watching some videos on the new methods and maybe only go to your favourite park(s).

I love Disneyworld. I am even happy just wandering, not fitting all the attractions in. However, my family are not. They hate having to plan Disney days and won't stand in queues for long periods. We go to Florida often but rarely include Disney. When we do we buy day tickets and select one or two parks rather than visit them all. I have to weigh up how happy it makes me vs how grumpy it makes them. On my last trip to MK last year for example, I could see they had had enough by lunchtime. They have always much preferred Universal but we often spend part of our trip outside of Orlando too, taking in other parts of the state. For me, a family holiday needs a bit of compromise. We generally like doing the same things but Disney is definitely where we disagree so it requires negotiation.

We were there last month and I have to say I felt like it’s kind of lost its allure.
I found myself feeling bored and rushed and just wasn’t as enjoyable as other trips. We much preferred universal and not having to plan anything in advance to ensure we rode what we wanted. Next year we are going back to Disneyland as we found it a much more relaxed experience in comparison. |
