Virgin/Delta Economy Classic v Economy Delight

I confess I am not a fan of coughing up for supposed seating upgrades but thought I would ask for some neutral opinions. Prices for my flights are hopefully out next week but, looking at the various airlines for dates just before, I am looking at Virgin/Delta Edi direct on 1/10 and coming back indirect via JFK on Thu 16/10. Won't bore you with why Wed-Wed isn't an option.

The difference for the same dates just before (24/9-9/10) between Economy Standard and Economy delight would be £800 so £200pp. As far as I can see, for that you get 3 inches more leg room, priority check-in and priority boarding. Anything I've missed? We tend to arrive on or even before the 3hr check-in period anyway and are Virgin any better at Edi than other Airlines when it comes to actually boarding people in the way they say they will?
I could put that £800 to other use in Florida although I do have a 6.4 tall son who can never get comfortable and my wife has a bit of arthritis so the added room would be appreciated by them.
Any experiences welcome - assume use of Lounges etc is when you go Premium. Not a Vigin Member either. Thanks

I wouldn't pay that much to be honest, the seats are pretty much the same with that ( welcome) extra leg room.

I think we paid £40pp.

Happy holiday though 👍

See if you can bid to upgrade maybe. I’d pay around £50pp.

We are doing the Edi-Mco Virgin direct next July/Aug..2A & 2C…….we upgraded to the Economy Delight, not only because of the extra leg room but so we knew we’d be sat next to each other, cost us an extra £500 but I’m 6’2” and looking forward to having that little bit of extra leg room for my creaky knees.

£800 is a lot but if you can afford to do it then I'm sure your Wife & Son would appreciate the extra space.

No, it’s not worth £200 pp. we paid £160 in total for both us both ways last year. That was worth it for us for the additional leg room and knowing we had seats booked.

Upgrading to Pe is often not much more than that.

Pre Covid I would agree but now from Edinburgh you’d not normally get PE for £200 more than economy. That said when I looked at our dates a could have weeks ago PE was cheaper than economy. Both were over £2000 though .
