U go around with a guide who first takes u to the front of the park and discusses with you the differences between the parks and the influences. Then u go around the shops on Main Street and learn the stories behind them and find hidden mickeys etc and then around the lands. It's a history lesson in disney xxx

It's not so much what you see as how you see it, details are pointed out that you might never notice, explanations about how things are designed, the stories behind Thunder Mesa etc, details in the shops/restaurants. You might get behind the scenes at Star Tours but not guaranteed, depends on the CM and the schedule for the day. We also saw several hidden Mickeys that we had not seen earlier. It was a lot of walking (our guide, Joost, is a lot taller with longer legs than me and DD1), we were shattered after 2.5hrs. But DD1 still likes to explain everything to people and remembers loads (she's just turned 9yrs, but we did it last June).

We were going backstage in star tours until they had to do a full evac! Doh! Went into dapper dans in addition to all other buildings on Main Street, tons of info and the chance to ask questions, not much castle from our guide but he did say each guide has a different style so would be different if we did it again. There is also a hortitour for the plant lovers :-)

Just curious: has anyone done the tour lately? Do you actually still get access to the reserved area for the parade and/or Dreams? The mail I got from DLP was quite adamant that these were perks reserved exclusively for the VIP tour (currently EUR 900 for five hours).

We did a tour last June and weren't offered access to a reserved area for the parade or Dreams. I can't remember whether I actually asked them about it when we checked in (probably, knowing me ) but I'd say the tour alone is definitely worth it. There was only DH & DD & me and the CM was really interesting. DH was sceptical about whether it would be good value but loved it
