Using debit card - ToaD

We are just about to book through Travel on a Dream (YAY), but I only use debit cards.

We have a couple of current account transfer credit cards which aren't really too clever for purchases.

Is it okay to pay using a debit card?

Thanks

Debit card should be fine but if the cost is in any currency other than sterling then ou are at the mercy of whatever conversion rate they use. Also - check you have purchase protection with your card:

While credit card purchases are protected under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, debit card purchases don’t qualify for this protection simply because they don’t form part of a credit agreement.

However, most debit card providers are starting to offer a form of protection when you make purchases using your card. You have some protection for purchases made using Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard and Maestro debit cards, through something called Chargeback. (There is a similar purchase protection scheme in place for Amex charge cards.)

The scheme makes it possible for you to claim a refund if a purchase made using your debit card is unsatisfactory, if you are billed multiple times, if you don't receive goods you've paid for, or if your card is used fraudulently.

Thanks, very useful information!

I will double check if my debit card is protected then, it is a Visa debit from Natwest, so hopefully it will be fine. Travel on a Dream come highly recommended so I'd hope they wouldn't do anything untowards with it.

ToaD do not store your card details unless you ask them too (I do, as it's easiest when making payments, I can just say to use my normal card).
ToaD also don't take your payment, they give your details direct to DCL who take the payment.
ToaD then get a new confirmation which they forward to you straight away.

Thank you

We got our quote and have confirmed we'd like to book, but they didn't get back to us today! Itching to confirm it!
