Although we have had to change our plans for the first part of our trip in 3 weeks, we are following events in Marathon, and it has been truly devastated

This photo apparently shows the damage to Captain Pips office.
We were meant to be staying at Knights Key Inn on the island.

Wishing them all the very best with the recovery. It must be heartbreaking for all the people concerned.

We were due to stay at Captain Pips at Knights Key Inn for two nights on 5th/6th October for which we have already paid 50%. I sent them an email last Thursday and had a reply the same day to let me know that they still hadn't been allowed back but would be processing refunds as soon as they could.

It means a change of plans for us this time around, but that's just an inconvenience and cannot even be measured against what the people who live and work there are having to deal with.

So sorry to hear that your holiday plans have also been affected.

Like you said our change of plans are nothing compared to the terrible situation that the islanders face.

Hopefully it will not be too long before they get back on their feet and tourists return.
