Sounds good. I almost felt guilty for skipping it, but glad we did!

The mixology class is only an hour, not an afternoon of drinking. it's actually an informative class telling you how cocktails got their names, what goes in to them and how to make them. It has a high alcohol content, but essentially, it's just an hour.
Your FB may not get their private class anyway now as DCL are scheduling private classes on port days - no use for most people as they'll be off the ship touring!

Their own classes are on sea days as they can fill them and make more money (private classes often have less than 40 people in them).

It sounds like you have decided to not visit Rome, which is a shame. If you did want to go, it's an easy 10 minute stroll from the port gates to the train station, straight along the seafront. Then it's an hour to get to St Peters Basillica or 15 minutes longer to get to the main train station, Termini.
From there you can pick up the metro to all the main sights of Rome.
If I remember right, the trains are very regular and are reasonably priced. The first time I saw the Colosseum is something I'll never forget.

Looks like you're right - they have offered a port day and although we'll be back onboard a lot of the Americans won't be back in time from their long excursions.
And I'm a total lightweight anyway - even a couple of drinks and I'll be nursing a headache the rest of the day. I'd rather spend my money on good coffee I think!

I definitely want to see Rome, but I think a weekend trip at a cooler time of year will suit us better. It's our 15th wedding anniversary next May so I am already making plans

Cove Café will be your friend then, don't forget to get a loyalty card from them.

Cove Cafe was nice but I still don’t understand why you can have huge amounts of food for free all over the ship, but you pay for a latte!

Those salty biscotti were horrible but the cakes are nice.

A lot of people like their posh coffees I guess and no amount of food will make up for having a quality drink?
Mick really likes the Café Toledos and you can't get them for free!

.
We love our coffees, and enjoyed the free one on our card (hoping they still do this next year). I posted this at the time - this is what happens when the barista is busy talking to you while pouring creme de menth
