Las Vegas Pass Advice

We are a family of 4, 2ad 1dd (12) 1ds (14) and we are planning a west coast trip. The plan is to be in Vegas for 3 nights and we have been looking into using the above pass.

Does anyone have experience of using this card?
Any pros or cons?
Thanks

I've never used it because honestly, there's already so many free things to see that you'll easily fill three days - especially if it's your first time there. Just wandering between the hotels will probably be more than enough.

But my advice would be to make a list of how many of those attractions you'd actually want (and have time) to do and price them up. Make sure to check for offers rather than relying on the full prices listed on the pass site. Then you'll know if it's actually a decent deal.

Thanks, just doing that now and trying to work out what is possible in a day. Difficult when I'm not too sure on queues in August and travel distances between attractions, it's all good fun!

I'm trying it out in August (I've previously used the Explorer pass from Smart Destinations) but I appreciate that's not exactly helpful with your trip in August also.

There are a few poor reviews on TripAdvisor forums but I think (hope) that's largely due to the information on their website not being entirely up to date.

We’ve purchased a 3 day pass but we are there 7 days. I know there are a few things on there that we would want to do anyway and others that we will look into. I like to have a few things paid for before we go so it suits us.

In all the times we’ve been we’ve never used a pass , I’ve looked at the them but never thought them to be great value

As for queues in August I doubt there will be any , most people there in the summer are there for pools and parties etc
We’ve never once queued for any attraction, just pretty much paid and walked straight in.

You can do several strip based activities in one day , none are that far apart and things like the secret garden will take no more than an hour .

I’d be inclined to price up things individually and think about what you really will do, as there’s loads of free stuff to fill your days .

I go for 2 weeks ish each year , and rarely do any paid stuff as there’s plenty of free things . In 3 days you will easily fill your time .

Thank you everyone.

What would some of the free activities be and would they be suitable for my kids age group?

I've made a list of everything that we would do on the pass and it would save money but I'm not sure its doable in the heat, what do you think?

Day 1

Stroll around hotels and chill at the pool, out for dinner and a few more hotels

Day 2 (with the pass)
Starting at 10ish Bus Tour 1 half hours to get our bearings
Then Highroller
Kiss Crazy Golf to get out the heat for a bit
Voodoo Zip line
Planet Hollywood for dinner
Then Stratosphere at night

Day 3 (with the pass)
Eiffel Tower
Mini Grand Prix
Waterpark

I can't see you need to do the High Roller and Eiffel Tower, I would do one or the other. What do you want to do at the Stratosphere?

As for water park I assume you mean Wet & Wild or Cowabunga , Neither are on the strip so you need to factor in getting to both.. Do you have a hire car? If you have a hire car then I'd skip the bus tour, Vegas is very easy to navigate specially if you're mostly sticking to the strip.

Whilst I do like the Kiss crazy golf and Go karting, I'm not sure for a first visit and just 3 days there I'd do either.

There are so many better things to see and do imo, things like the Bellagio Fountains, Bellagio Conservatory,Vegas Sign, Neon Museum,Mob Museum, visit all the hotels, some of them like the Venetian can take a while to wander around, you won't see them all in 3 days never mind 1..

I've taken my kids many times from babies to teenagers and most things they can do (exception being drink and hang around the casino floor)..

I love planning and I plan everything - even a day trip to London needs an itinerary but I think you might be trying to ‘over-plan’ Vegas!

The hotels in LV are huge and as DB said you can spend a while just looking around the public areas in each (not the casino floor as you’ve got children with you)

It’s useful to have an idea of what activity or special attractions each hotel has to offer i.e. rollercoaster at NYNY, gondola at Venetian, shoppes at Caesar’s Palace, Vegas sign and then pick up a bunch of discount vouchers (they’re available everywhere for BOGOF etc) and just explore! In 2 full days you could set off one way on the 1st day and then the other way on the 2nd day. We usually go to a show or restaurant in the evening and like to check out the Bellagio fountains and the atmosphere on the strip before going back to the room before Vegas gets too rowdy (or fun, I’m boring! )

Where else are you going and for how long?

For example there is a waterpark at Magic Mountain north of LA next door to the theme park. That may be an alternative if you have more time in that area. You could mix that with time in Hollywood, Griffith Observatory, or Santa Monica, Venice Beach etc.

You can easily fill 3 days in Las Vegas on the strip if you wanted. I would cost up what you must do and see how it stacks up.

Personally we couldn't spend as much time as you have planned on the strip itself. Too much lipstick on a pig. We find loads to do off strip.

If you aren't going to the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon etc, there is still Red Rock Canyon about 20 minutes west of Vegas to see some of the natural habitat. There are loads of museums etc around and if you are into any of the TV shows based in the area then many have visitor facilities too.

One of the on strip exhibits you haven't mentioned which we found good (especially our teen) was the Titanic exhibit.

We have eaten at Planet Hollywood a few times over the years and have never found it particularly good. Its always been OK, but never came out thinking must do that again. Its usually with others who want the "experience" that we tend to go back.

I'm not sure I would see the benefit of the pass in Vegas. If you want to do the strip, it is much more of a walk and see where it takes you. As mentioned, the Eiffel Tower and the High Roller will give a very similar view (High Roller is also quite set back from the strip). Zip line wise, I'd do the Fremont Street one at night, but that is quite a way at the top end of the strip and not an area everyone likes, especially with teens.

Many of the other paid attractions on the strip are not worth paying for, even as part of the pass and there is plenty that is free that will consume your time.
