Hi

Going for the missus birthday so would like a "fancier" meal to celebrate - was thinking California Grill in Disneyland Hotel but what are your thoughts?

We loved california grill. It was excellent, good food, nice surroundings and the waiter was good. We ate from the premium menu so cannot comment on a la carte. The wine suggestion was good.

Someone had a birthday whilst we were in, no characters obviously but the staff sang.

I dont have many photos on my phone here but this is one of the steak. My DD likes her steak rare, almost blue and it was fantastic according to her (half had gone by the time I had chance to take this picture...)

If you thought about booking it for the fireworks, this is the view from the window at our table (again, taken on my phone so not great)

Since it was a set menu we had the bread, soup (I had pate), steak (I had pork, other DD had chicken), desert was a chocolate bomb (very nice and we all had that apart from me, I had the cheese selection). We were offered coffee but we were all full by that time and didnt fancy coffee.

As a side note, this photo was taken at 22:20, the park had closed at 19:00 yet people were still leaving. Im not sure where these people were coming from or how they stayed in the park so late - there were quite a few, not single numbers - perhaps a late booking at plaza gardens or Capt Jacks?

I've never been to California Grill so can't comment however we went to Captain Jack's for our anniversary meal at DLP and did enjoy it. The food was way different to anything you can get anywhere else and the atmosphere was lovely! Search for the menu online and see what you think. Would advise to pre-book.

Hope you have a lovely time

There’s a thing called a sparkling experience which is a several course meal at California grill followed by fireworks viewing in the founders club lounge I believe

It's amazing. Expensive - when we did it a few years ago it was 200 Euros per person. But it was a whole evening. Cocktails and nibbles in the Fantasia bar for 1 hour (we only had one each but could have ordered more) then a four course meal with wines, then you are taken up to the Founders Bar for a balcony view of Illuminations with champagne and petits fours.

One of the most amazing things I've ever done.

I emailed the hotel but they were completely thrown by the request! They asked me for photocopies of my card - they really didn't expect anyone to book this in advance.

The second time we did it, I booked that evening on a whim!

Things may have changed now though, they might be a bit more clued up.
