I have never liked the look of the studios at SSR but the rooms now after the refurb look lovely. We got moved to a 2 bedroom at SSR during the CBR fiasco and did enjoy our stay there. I would change to the 17 nights at one resort so you have DDP for your entire stay.
What about OKW? That's our favourite place to stay. |

It feels like it could just be a motel anywhere just feels dull and lacklustre. Just feels a bit grotty, my kids actually refused to believe they were staying on Disney
I love both POR and POFQ and would definitely pick those, just feel they have something special. I actually prefer them to some of the deluxe resorts

The new rooms at SSR are far from grotty- in fact they are probably the second best in the entire WDW apart from Riviera:
The refurb has been done on Congress Park (preferred category) and has moved to Springs (Preferred category) where it has just started. Given they will have a building out of action now, if you went today and booked preferred you would have a roughly 60% chance of getting a refurbed room. If you went today and booked standard, you would have a zero chance of a refurbed room. IF they continue at current pace, roughly by the end of May (but that’s an estimate) they may have finished Springs and so if you stopped in preferred after that, and they had finished it, you’d 100% get the refurbed room. There’s a chance preferred may not be completed by May, but I’d personally be very surprised if not done by July/ August. If you are booking Standard, then the refurb on that will be commenced when Springs is completed. Standard category has more buildings than Preferred and I doubt it will be completed until late 2021. I am planning on booking a standard DVC 1 bed for possibly Xmas 2021 by which time I’d hope the refurb room will be guaranteed in standard too. Bottom line if you want a refurb room from summer onwards, you’ll almost certainly get it booking preferred. There is no comparison between a refurbed room at SSR and the room at Port Orleans, but Port Orleans is a very nice moderate resort. |

Thanks everyone amazing advice! Well checked again and ssr studio preferred has gone so guess I’m just going to have to keep checking availability and see what comes up. I have time still.
Failing that just use the savings for beach club lol!

We love both SSR and Beach club. Pools are lovely at SSR, also the closeness to Disney Springs and the quick serve is good. kids also loved beach club if I had a choice of upgrading to beach club for the hol or upgrading the journey home it would definitely be beach club - return journey is only 9 hours and will be mostly asleep! love the walk to epcot and hs from beach club not to mention the pool. However I am also really happy at SSR too
