Improving Vocabulary - word/phrase of the day - non political please

We are often encouraged to improve our vocabulary so I thought I’d introduce a word of the day ...

I’ll kick off :

ultracrepidarian:

one who consistently offers opinions and advice on subjects way beyond their understanding.

(Don’t know how you would work that into daily conversation though!)

What’s your word of the day?

Join in .. just for fun ...

Over to you

Introducing Trump in an unrelated thread is fast becoming the 2020 version of Godwin's law.

My favourite word is discombobulated. I have to be careful telling my primary pupils though, as if I mention it, it appears in every piece of writing for the rest of the term!

At the moment, I imagine it’s the perfect word to describe how most of us are feeling most of the time!

“Discombobulate is a fun, fancy word for “confuse.” If something has put you in a state where you don't know up from down and you can't spell your own name, you may be discombobulated.”

Word of this week has to be ' ignotism' meaning a mistake made out of ignorance. Seems to sum up much of what is posted on the Web at the minute.

antidisestablishmentarianism

opposition to the disestablishment of the Church of England.

However i came across this word on a play i was in at school about goblins and traffic wardens! It was shouted out by the goblin queen to calm the rabble down! I cant remember what it was called but i remember the one traffic warden was called lulu maguire and the goblin queens perfume was called canal no 5!
