We did the August 20th MNSSHP this year
walk on to most rides and we FP'd 3 rides between 4 and 6pm (as we only had party tickets)

So I wouldn't say crowds are a problem compared to after hours, and , in any event, the party tickets gets you access to the park for a longer period of time than the after hour does
now, if you have a regular ticket to enter the park on the same day, the 4 to midnight access may not be a plus for you
but if you don't have a ticket for the day, the bang for the buck is definitely better with MNSSHP

there are also exclusive contents (special parade, brand new fireworks display this year, castle show, characters ... and candy ... )
