Port Orleans Riverside Resort preferred loacation
Its only 3 weeks on Sunday till I leave for my holidays again to Disney but for the first time we are not staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort. We have decided to give Port Orleans Riverside a try this year
My question is for people who have experienced the POR before. What's is the best part of the resort to stay.I would in an ideal world like to stay as close to the main food court as possible but also like to be close to the first bus stop that the Disney buses stop at when circling the resort. This would allow us to be dropped off first at night and also in the morning when leaving to go to the parks guarantee us a seat on the bus Can anyone who has been before guide me to the best place to stay as the week before I go I plan to phone up POR to ask for a preferred location. Thanks in advance |

Portorleans.org has maps of all the rooms and buildings at POR. Where your room is will depend upon the class you have booked. Standard rooms tend to be at the back of the resort overlooking car parks. Preferred rooms are close to the food court and the south depot where most buses start from.

Don't pay extra for preferred rooms.
We were in block 16 of Alligator Bayou (which is not 'preferred') and it was just as near as the preferred ones. Five min to food court , five min round the back through the car park to the bus stop. Easy peasy!

We were also in block 16 a standard room but a fab location near the food court but also next to a quiet pool. If I was to pay for preferred I would request block 18 prefer that location to block 14 tho this is nearest the foodcourt.
Re the buses, we always used the south main stop, it was usually the first and only stop but on some occasions it wasn't. Coming back at night most of the time the south stop was the last stop so went all round the resort first, occasionally it would stop off a fq first tho at busy times they never shared buses. There didn't seem to be any pattern to which way the bus was going to go it was just pot luck Edited at 01:02 PM. |

It was sometime ago we stayed here and just had a normal room. It did not take that long to walk to the food court or the buses and the scenery is lovely. We were near one of the quiet pools and I would take the boys to the pool and do laundry at the same time as there was a laundrette by the pool. We had a great view from our room of one of the streams and every morning and later in the day Mummy duck used to walk her ducklings all in a line across the path and into the stream. The boys thought that was lovely especially as we were there over the Easter period.
If you are eating at DTD and thinking of getting the river boat from the resort down then allow plenty of time as queues later in the day and during the evening can be quite long. |

We are just back and had standard room, Acadian House. It was 5 mins at most from food court. We didn't use the buses but reckon 3/4mins walk from stop. We had requested a room not on ground floor when we booked but were allocated a ground floor room, even that was no problem. Lovely rooms.
The previous week was stayed at Coronado Springs which was nice but Riverside was beautiful. I'm sure you will be fine wherever your room is. |
