It doesnt affect me personally as I always found Thomas Cook expensive so weve never booked with them - but I do feel incredibly sad this morning, another long standing UK company gone. I do feel for everyone already away on holiday & wish them a safe journey back home / or those who have booked to go in the future - but my heart also goes out to the employees too, I cant imagine how they must be feeling this morning. Very very sad.

Feel desperately sorry for those whose holidays are now shattered dreams.
Equally the staff, now faced with no job and a wait (often lengthy) for redundancy through the government, worried sick about paying bills/mortgages and ultimately finding another job.

Claim process starts on 30th September as they are focusing on bringing people home first.

I feel for the employees. A horrible situation for everyone.

I had flight only booked for next July (on credit card so I'm covered) but looking at the cost of alternative flights now (even indirect) I'm looking at an extra 800 for 3 of us and flying indirect.

At this point it's looking like cancelling Disney for 2020

That said at least I still have a job.

It's only a holiday but it stings.

So I was unsure what to do last night, book flights before the official announcement or wait until it comes. We paid 1224 with TC for flights only, the BA prices were 1504 last night when I went to bed but my wife woke me when the dog needed letting out at 3am so I checked and made a BA booking which had gone up to 1600.

Price is now 3540! That would of been enough to stop us going.

This is a really sad day for all employees. And also, people who should be travelling in the next few weeks.
Orlando is becoming more and more expensive and I found them quite competitive with their prices. X
