Apparently when there is a new parade such as the electrical parade that has been running over summer there can be rehearsals through the night up and down main street so that it is absolutely perfect when the guests see it.

I've often wandered what happens when the parks close.

Sean.

I've often wondered about empty theme parks. Most are open all year round but some have a close season. e.g Alton Towers. I love to see pictures of those times when there are no guests.

Strangely, I used to have dreams as a child of walking round Alton Towers on my own when it was empty. Someone analyze that! lol

Most items are turned off obviously but somethings, such as the Its a Small World attraction has its mechanical parts (the kids) left running as they had more damage switching them on and off. The music is turned off though and a CM told me how spooky the place is with almost no sound and all these moving figures.

There's a very moving episode from an early series of ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition, a family was selected as their daughter suffers from a sun allergy and therefore has to avoid sunlight. WDW gave her and a group of other children with the allergy a special treat when MK had a night-time opening (midnight to 4 AM). At the time it was said to be the only time MK has opened to guests through the night.

It's when you think of the behind the scenes operation that goes on at Disney as well as what is on offer during the day that I personally think that park ticket and parking charges are reasonable

An article on this subject appeared earlier this year. It was for Disneyland but I'm sure it must be similar for WDW. Unfortunately as a new poster I am unable to submit the url. If you search google for "disney night maintenance", it should be the second article!
