Not for us. Haven't done it and haven't thought about it . DH's view is that this is our time away from everything else and time to spend together. He won't even consider going away with family now for that same reason . Any savings wouldn't be worth the risk for us, we'd rather be on our own whatever the cost.

No, I've never thought about it to keep costs down.

Reasons ... I don't like people I like my space for my family (yes, that can mean wandering about in my under wear not worrying about offending anyone) and keeping costs down for me isn't about giving up that space to save £375 on a holiday costing north of £7000
And me.

I don't do people either
I value my privacy far too much.
A saving of £375 is no where near enough.

O/H would be worried about what I would say next. Apparently I am going through a phase of this... He sometimes looks a bit scared when people ask me something... just wondering what sort of answer they will get...

Only with family, sorry I would not be comfortable, walking round in my nightie or by the pool, with people I did not know, always have a Cabana in Discovery Cove for that bit of privacy as well.

Doesn't sounds too much different to having hotel rooms next to each other.
I have never done it, probably wouldn't but it worked for you

Being an only grandchild I don't like people so no way I would consider sharing a villa, I hate having people stay over at home and regularly ask OH if we can turn the spare room into a study.

I had to read that thread twice to get it all in.

Yes, I think I am lucky... I won the euro millions twice whilst I was out there

The grand some of a fiver each time

But as someone said, we just treated it as if we were on separate holidays who happened to share a kitchen

However. Having a car each is a must

Well I'm now counting the days to November 2015 when we are going back to see how the yanks do Christmas.

Anyone fancy going halves on a villa

Now there's an offer, I have one booked, don't know how much you would save though

I don't really see a problem with this at all although I suppose my circumstances are different. I am going in a few weeks time with a group of friends, all in our 20's and we are all sharing a villa. I definitely would see it as being different if you are going as a family - in that case you would definitely want your own space. However, I wouldn't have an issue doing what the OP did to save some money if I was going just with my partner! A villa gives you more space than hotel so you're still not on top of each other and if you have your own car you will be coming and going as you please in any case
